Birdman (2014) starring Michael Keaton

The self absorption has all the things you mention. It just didn't make for an enjoyable movie for me. While I admired everyone's acting, I got tired of all the angst.
I could appreciate the art, but I walked out thinking it was basically a bunch of unpleasant people sweating through their issues, however well acted those characters were.
Art doesn't always equate with enjoyable. I wanted to see it so I'm glad that I did but wouldn't care to watch it again.

 

Another solid Edward Norton performance.

She is excellent in that as well, but it's more of an ensemble piece, whereas Easy A she practically carries on her own.

 

emma stone and rachel mcadams are 2 girls to be reckoned with in hollywood for the next few years, ala meg ryan, andiew mcdowell, debra winger etc. then, when they get older, it will be up to them to earn their way, ala julia roberts, etc
