Threads with unfamiliar tunes are pleasant ways to pass the time...usually. Ain't gonna binge on this set!

I find this to be terribly sad. That the genre isn't known for sad songs is the icing on the cake. And it may have been written by one of the most frantic rockabillies ever: Ronnie Self.

Oh - how could I forget in my last post? The one that always hits me is the second half of "Is There Anybody Out There" from The Wall. That transition from C to A minor is so heartbreaking. One of the few redeeming moments on what's, for the most part, an awful disc.

An incredibly sad but beautiful song. I saw them perform back in '97

John Lennon singing "Grow Old Along With Me, the best is yet to be..." mere months before that would no longer be possible.

Anything in D minor, the saddest of all keys.

Back when I was a teenager, this was the one that I'd play when thinking of an ex-girlfriend or two.

"Tears Dry On Their Own" is the Winehouse song that hits me as the saddest now - that or "Back To Black" - but "Love Is A Losing Game" is a little mini-tragedy as well.

    One that hasn't:

Tim Moore-"Second Avenue" makes me sick, it's such a beautiful song, I don't think Art Garfunkel's version was nearly as good. I've got it on a long-gone LP set called Rockin' Easy and it's in between Aretha Franklin "Until You Come Back to Me" and Blue Magic's "Stop To Start" it's almost too much to listen to, ha.
