  1. Well those musical guests are pretty dire, but at least the hosts are OK. Yeah, I'm saying Miley Cyrus is OK - she's done pretty well in her previous hosting gigs.

I liked the past season better than those later Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig seasons--they weren't that funny to me.

    The season premiere is tonight.

  4. And I understand the Flaming Lips might be backing Cyrus up for at least one of her songs. That, combined with it being a season opener (and my not having other big plans): I know where I'll be at 11:30 tonight...

It's early, but this episode is giving me hope for this season, so far!

Well, they almost made it through the episode without technical goofs.

  7. All in all, a fairly encouraging start. I liked the bit of Kyle Mooney weirdness at the end.

I would have liked it more had the talk show sketch not abruptly and quietly ended. I was trying to figure out what had happened for about 30 seconds. I wonder if that'll be fixed for the West Coast feed.

I came in half way into the Hillary sketch and went out not much later. SNL is not exactly cutting edge in its political humor.

I thought it was a great episode. Good writing... the best I've seen in 2-3 years. I'm familiar with the characters and enjoyed almost every skit. I even enjoyed Miley's 2 songs. I hope they can keep up the solid writing and acting.

  11. Yeah, that was kind of weird, although when it went into the Mooney bit I figured it was just part of the sketch. The oddest delay/notable snafu to me was after Cyrus' second song, where they went to a title card for about 20 seconds before cutting to a commercial.

I definitely didn't see a title card for 20 seconds. That was probably your affiliate.

Miley is a good comic actor. Has also developed into quite the freak.

Had to skip the premier. Just can't handle that Miley Virus.

    I agree too!

You'da thunk she'd spent 4 years on a sitcom or something to get skillz like that!

She seemed oddly underused last night.

Did anyone else notice all the audio issues they had? Way too much reverb on Miley's numbers, and echo and reverb cutting in and out on some of the skits where none should have existed. But Miley's music numbers sounded dreadful, to the point where I couldn't tell if I even liked the songs or not. I usually don't like her music, but from what I could hear it sounded like she changed her sound a bit and that I might like her new stuff. I didn't really care for any of the skits, and thought Update was pertty bad. Miley is a pretty good host and actor...just didn't have much in good material imo. Hoping for a better ep next week. SNL is always a bit hit or miss. I'm sorry they aren't using Vanessa much lately.

I didn't see that. But mine feed missed the introduction of Miley for the 2nd song (was there one?) or any title coming out of the commercial break and just picked up when she was already at the piano singing. Not sure how much of the song was missed.

Was Bobby Moynihan in any sketches the other night? I pretty much zipped through the show and don't really remember seeing him.

I think Hillary Clinton introduced that song.

She introduced the first song. Kenan Thompson introduced the second one.

Bobby Moynihan played both Jared Fogle and Josh Duggar in the monologue, Mike Huckabee in the Abilify ad, and himself in the film about Kyle Mooney's marriage to Miley Cyrus. He had a small role in the high school prom sketch.

Man that was a terrible sketch imo! Desperation indeed....no new ideas?
