    Why ?

Its just a bit of fun, that's what we Beatle nuts do here you should know that by now Evan, I am certainly not the first here on SHTV or the last to make a fantasy compilation, and if Apple did this it would work as well as there one disc version, anything by The Beatles works, because it has 'The Beatles' on it ;) !

Cool, that's where it comes from, I don't have the Barrett boots though so I must have it on something else

And I'm pretty sure the harmonica exists on its own somewhere so a mix with it wasn't too hard.

I have just done a good enough mix using the official 2009 mono and stereo, I just overlaid the mono and faded (the mono) just before the drum roll on the stereo, really simple to do using pro-tools etc. :)

For my Worldwide '1's' comp I have also decided to use the Stereo Love Me Do from the Early Beatles :)

Anyone, did the USA release the Dexter Mock Stereo on singles ??

I don't believe Love Me Do was issued as a single in the U.S. By Capitol Records.

I really enjoy the fake stereo mix of Love Me Do on the Early Beatles/Red Album. I'd have no problem when that being used in a U.S. Comp!

If you're talking about singles released during that era (1964-65), no -- the singles used mono mixes. As far as later pressings of U.S. Capitol singles, that's outside of my scope of knowledge (which isn't hard).

It was issued on Tollie records and it reached #1.

Capitol in Canada releases it (with Ringo on drums) and Capitol released it many years later in the U.S.

It made #1 in the US as a single -- just not on Capitol.

(EDIT: AppleCorp3 beat me to it)

It's the mono mix with Andy White on drums.

I didn't even realize a mock stereo version existed until I played the red album and was shocked at how good it sounded! I guess I never noticed before.

There's a much better mix on youtube, even separates John and Paul on vox.

And when was the version of "Love Me Do" with Ringo on drums first issued in the USA or Canada? Was it the Rarities album in 1980?

In the US, yes. Canada used it on the original single release.

The Canadian copies of Love Me Do with Ringo on drums aren't too hard to find and sound good in case you're looking.

It is a little strange to see the song titles appear on the orange & yellow swirl label though!

I grow tired of phrases such as "Fab Four cash machine" associated with this release: http://www.forbes.com/sites/markbee...s-lessons-for-comeback-kings-presley-jackson/. I guess it shouldn't be surprising from Forbes, who see everything in terms of coin gained.

Of course the project was conceived as a business venture, but I fail to understand how this can be considered a cash grab when the promos have never been released to home video.

I am reminded of R.E.M. Succumbs on VHS. The group resisted releasing any music videos for a long time after they started. So when Succumbs was finally released in 1987, it was refreshing, even with the disorienting 20 minute "Left of Reckoning". So fans had to wait six years to get home videos. Outrageous!

So now, some fifty odd years after these promos were created, we finally get to watch them on our own time, when we want to. Some of us have been waiting a long time for this.

It's both, a cash-grab and a godsend for Fabs admirers.
