I have like the first 12 volumes of the TMR Blues series, been a vault subscriber for years, and have been into the White Stripes since 2001.

Not ALL of his TMR LP releases are AAA...

I may be younger than a lot of folks who post on here, but I'm definitely a big Stones fan, and I dig JW.

    What were you saying?

But that would be a bloodbath...Keith and Mick strangling each other.

I honestly don't think it's a matter of either "saving" the other one's career. It does offer interesting possibilities.

  7. Now that's an angle I haven't heard before. I'd say he's more of a Pierce who can hold his liquor and found the right balance of meds to keep productive. :)

  8. Auerbach would also be good. And given the currently circulating rumour it'd have the side effect of giving White a rage aneurysm, which could be entertaining on its own. ;)

If the result would be something like Turn Blue, better not.

"Stones are too old and haven't made decent music in decades",

"Jack is too young/new to be mentioned in the same breath as these legends."

    My head is spinning.

  18. I'm 52, so I was just digging into the back catalog when Some Girls came out. But I haven't been interested in their albums since Steel Wheels. This could be a nice shot of adrenalin for them. Love him or hate him, I think he is respectful of the Stones, there's no way this would be a Jack White album.

I agree...but the Stones have to bring the material. There's a limit to what top-tier producers can do with mediocrity. Wouldn't Keith have used up his best ideas for his latest solo record? Would J&R even listen to someone who's a couple of generations younger? Hell, I'll buy it anyway no matter they come up with but it'd be nice if the Stones went out with a (bigger) bang.

Irrespective of who produces it, Charlie has to be allowed to sound/feel like Charlie.

On the new tracks on various greatest hit compilations, the drums sound like samples/programmed.

If it ain't Charlie, it ain't right.

Jack White is energetic and rocking. The Rolling Stones are that live but not so much in the studio. If Jack can bring out some gritty, rockin' sounds from the Stones I would say this is a very good idea. I like the potential this has very much

Yes, the new album should be produced by George W. Bush, David Gilmour and James Taylor.

If Jack White were to produce a bluesier Stones album, I'm all up in that!

OK, to all of you who replied to my posts lets just see what happens. If this Jack White rumor of producing a Stones album turns out to be true and it does happen, then we'll just have to see just how good of an album it really will be, and both Stones fans as well as Jack White fans can be the judge of this. I'm not banking on it from any producer if they do another album. The Stones had their day, decades ago. That's why I will not be buying it just like any other Stones album from at least the last 30+ years.

Well, of course. The Keith album I think sounds really good, the riffs are there, the guitar tone and licks, but the songs themselves are kind of bland and forgettable. Maybe working with a lyricist and a big-picture kind of producer is just what he needs. I though with Van Leer Rose was a really great album, and it certainly seemed like White was able to help draw a great, autobiographical record out of Lynn, which is something a great producer can do with a great writer. FWIW, I thought A Bigger Bang was a pretty good album, probably the band's best since Tattoo You. Not a great album, but a good one.
