Don't get it. How the hell did Ringo end up endorsing this brand? That said, why the hell does Ringo even feel inclined to a star in a commercial for any large corporation at this point? What money could they have possibly offered him? What money does he actually need at this point?

    Just wonderin'....

All I can figure is that he really likes the shoes, they noticed he was wearing them and asked if he would do a commercial. Some kind of mutual admiration thing.

You might get a better answer if you send the question to Ringo's management, or Ringo himself.

    I tried.

Ringo and I just aren't as close any more ever since we had that weird scene at Pizza Hut after downing a case of Sun Country wine coolers. ;)

  6. First time I saw it I was hoping he was gonna kick out his drum solo from 'The End'. Bummer!

Ringo was on the front cover of Rolling Stone Magazine earlier this year...the very next issue, he was on the back cover in a Skechers advertisement. Has that ever happened to anyone else in the history of RS?

He seems to be a young dude in awe of Ringo's footwear or his drumming ability. It's not made clear which, as he just appears in the tag.

Maybe Ringo's got some line he's supposed to deliver to the guy, like "If I had these things on back in the Philippines, I wouldn't have had such trouble fleeing the airport."

He needs enough to open up a ladies hair salon...a string of them, in fact.

I love the commercial (this shorter one here without the kid joining in, with the cool finish). Ringo shows that he can still pound the skins and look cool doing it. :)

A weird nod to the popular movie "Whiplash"?

part of me wishes the commercial ended with the kid saying, "You made how much money playing like that?"

Even better if the kid said: "Hey! You're Zak's dad!"

With his auction and the commercial, Ringo seems to be amassing as much money as he can before he either dies or can't perform anymore. He doesn't have McCartney money.

Does anybody actually need the amount that McCartney has?
Maybe Barbara is about to give Ringo the boot (Beatle boot) because she hasn't heard him say anything but Peace and Love for the past 10 years. And so maybe he's building up funds before she soaks him like Macca's ex.

Ringo's always had "interesting" commercial endorsements, I remember Pizza Hut and Sun Country Classic wine coolers too.

Ringo isn't going to get any radio airplay for anything he has released after 1975, so appearing in relatively young and hip commercials lets a new generation see and experience his persona. I think that appeals to him.

Yeah, but he has more money than most mortals and more money than many of his contemporaries.

Well he did say most mortals and many of his contemporaries...not all of them.
I'm not sure I'd compare Dylan to Starkey anyway.
Their voices may be equally bad, but one can write songs and the other just tries to.

It's way better than his Japanese "I love my suit" commercials, or the Oldsmobile commercial. At least Sketchers seems more sincere.

Several hundred thousand dollars for half a day's work? Who doesn't want that gig? I'm just guessing at the amount, but still...you know it's a sizable chunk of change and you still have the rest of the day for the treadmill and the pool.
