I think it's a great record. Ziggy and Aladdin Sane are my favorite Bowie albums.

For me, it's a tie between Ziggy and Hunky Dory. These are the two best Bowie albums.

It has not aged well, i don't think Bowie's music in general except for ''Alladin Sane'' has aged well.

I know quite a few people who don't particularly care for Bowie's music but think Ziggy is awesome. Must be something to it.

OT but I went to the Bowie exhibition here in Melbourne over the weekend. I loved it, some very nice pieces on display.

It's fashionable to deprecate a truly great album by saying "well, X was better *sniff*" but you can't do that here IMO.

It is a great collection of great songs, but as an album experience, it doesn't excite me these days in the way that others of his still do (AS, DD, STS).

Really enjoy Ziggy but rank it well behind Alladin Sane and Hunky Dory as Bowie albums from that era.

Other 72 albums, I found more groundbreaking include the debut by Roxy Music and Electric Warrior.

Station to Station and Hunky Dory are the two I would put at the same level as Ziggy. A couple of the others you mention are close, IMO.

Count me in that number. Other than Ziggy, Bowie is a hits only artist for me, and that's unusual as I rarely prefer the hits over deeper stuff for most artists.

As good as Ziggy Stardust might be, don't forget that unsung hero Mick Ronson, who arranged most of Bowies material and made for a great foil and guitarist. His work is always overlooked when Bowie is discussed.

Ronson was integral to early Bowie and the collaboration was integral to the success of Hunky Dory, The Man Who Sold The World, as well as Ziggy Stardust itself.

One of the best albums of all time IMO.

I think its quite overrated. I'd put it somewhere between #8 and #10 if I ranked all the Bowie regular studio albums.

I think it's both "that good" AND overrated. I think Aladdin Sane and Hunky Dory are just as good, maybe better, yet they are kinda obscure albums to the average person.
