That was my first real Beatles documentary. They used to play it on the local PBS station during their weekends when they would ask for money. I still really like it.

Yeah, they parallel each other pretty well. Perhaps The Compleat Beatles was the un-parody of All You Need Is Cash.

I'm curious as to the improvement of the remastered version over the original laserdisc.
    What year was that done?
How improved are the clips and interviews? Better audio? Better video? Some of the interviews used in the VHS are absolutely horrible, and I'm not sure just remastering (without getting better quality film or at least repairing/fixing the existing film) would do much good. As I mentioned before, it would be a real treat if someone unofficially could re-compose this documentary using the greatly improved clips and video we now have (or soon will have come November).

I have the remastered as well. I believe the first issue was basically the VHS program thrown onto a LaserDisc without much care. The remastered version had a bit better video and was upgraded to digital sound.

My remastered Laserdisc has a package copyright date of 1994. I think that's when I snapped it up.

It was shown on finnish tv in the mid 80's. Recorded it of course (on Video 2000!!!).

Bought the VHS in the early 90's. Haven't watched it since (because of Anthology).
But it's still visible on my Beatles-shelf with other stuff. Must watch it one day.

I quite liked Malcolm McDowell's narration. Nicely dramatic. The doc was where I believe I first heard the term "stereo edition" in relation to Beatles LPs. Made them sound like books.

I not only liked his delivery, but whoever wrote the script for the narration did an outstanding job.

The part where they rotate the cover of Revolver, to illustrate their embrace of psychedelia, is one of the funniest, most ridiculous moments ever on video. I also have the remastered, digital sound LD.

This production owes a lot to both The Rutles and The Compleat Beatles:

I had that too. Mine had a darker cover though.
