The only live solo Paul I own are Wings Over America and Tripping the live fantastic. Are these his best live releases? I never heard any of the later ones. I did SEE him live about a year ago and would buy a live set if it comes out from the Out There tour. Let me know if there is anything worthwhile about later live Paul albums. I don't think I need another live version of Long and Winding Road or Hey Jude, but I'll wait to hear from the experts!

Wings Over America is by far my favorite McCartney live album. The performances were a lot more energetic and "live" on this LP than on any of the others I've heard. Paul hasn't done a bad live album but WOA has great arrangements and the performances are less polished - and a lot more fun to listen to - than any of the others imo.

In addition to the ones already mentioned, there's also Paul is Live, Back in the World (very similar to Back in the US) and Good Evening New York City.

I prefer videos myself. If you have access to them, full shows pro-shot (without all the editing and constant jump cutting that makes the official releases un-live) are the best. The original Wings Over America (before they remastered the audio and tightened the framing) is great, as is someone's old tape of the original MTV Unplugged broadcast.

WOA is the best, but I really like Good Evening New York City, too. Great set and great performances...it's his most recent live album, too, so it gives you (kind of) a flavor for what he's like now, minus the weakened voice. But really, all of his live albums have their moments and are worth checking out. My least favorite is Paul is Live, but it's still decent.

And don't forget "The Mess" (the B-side of "My Love") recorded live in 1973:

If you can find it, one of my absolute faves is Wings Last Flight!

If memory serves me right, it's Wings very last concert and the setlist is very good.

    Songs like....
    Getting Closer
    I've Had Enough
    Coming Up
    No Words
    Every Night
    Twenty Flight Rock
It's just very good, get it if you can!

I'd say that it is more than very good; it's top-notch:

The full set list: Last Flight: Recorded Apollo Theater, Glasgow, Scotland – December 17, 1979:

Got To Get You Into My Life
    Getting Closer
    Every Night
    Again And Again And Again
    I’ve Had Enough
    No Words
    Cook Of The House
    Old Siam Sir
    Maybe I’m Amazed
    Fool On The Hill
    Let It Be
    Hot As Sun
    Spin It On
    Twenty Flight Rock
    Go Now
    Arrow Through Me
    Wonderful Christmas Time
    Coming Up
    Goodnight Tonight
    Yesterday
    Mull Of Kintyre
    Band on The Run

^yeah I've got the Last Flight boot, and it is damn good! I've also got a live compilation boot of the '72-'73 tours that's quite good, I forget the title off the top of my head (something with the word "Splinters" in it, IIRC)

Yep, if you want an extra dimension adding to your Macca collection, rather than just a slightly different track list and level of performance, then Unplugged is the route to go down.

Another way to add something radically different to your live collection would be to get "Live Kisses", not sure whether a download is your only option there though, I can't remember if there was a vinyl/CD release of it.

Wish McCartney would do his setlist like the one he did for Wings last flight!

Since it is Wings very last concert, wouldn't it be great if McCartney had it remastered and released?

See that's the kind of product that would get me excited, I like live music and an official release of Wings Last Flight would be a must have for me!

:)Wonder if they would have a giant salamander as backdrop if Getting closer were added to the current setlist.:)

Wings final concert was the Kampuchea gig, actually. So it's close, but not quite the last one...

The Mess is one of my absolute fave McCartney songs, wish he would perform it live right now!

I also like the live versions of the songs Wildlife and Best Friend, two more that I wish McCartney was performing.
