I might like some of Dream Theater's music if they had a different singer...

I know. So was I, in my ponderous, old crank fashion.

Most country music of the past 30 years.
I like a lot of the music, but when that dude in the country costume starts singing in that obviously exaggerated southern drawl that is more of a parody than a mimic I just can't take it.
I like the Tractors because they have a singer that sounds like him singing. Not like whatever the latest country music southern drawl fad is.

They need someone more progressive rock sounding. The quasi-metal vocals don't really work with that music.

  10. Seconding Rush which is curious because given that Jon Anderson and Roger Hodgson don't bother me.

Family - who let the goats out?
Rush - thin voice is a mismatch for big power chords and all out balls of the rest of the band

I would probably like a lot more Kiss tracks had Gene not sung a good share. Especially his gruff vocals on a decent album like Alive II.

Mostly agree but love Vocabularies. The one album where he lets his talent rise above being kind of a characature of himself. Love it...

  15. Was about to nominate Joanna Newsom, but then I remembered that I don't really like her music much either.

I got used to his voice (KOL.) And I am now a big fan of the band..but I never really play it when other people are around or my wife is in the car. I know it's an acquired taste.

I think I might like the Red Hot Chili Peppers more without Anthony. He needs a cough drop or decongestant.

    Haha.

I'm having a hard time finding a band. Maybe Sleater-Kinney. Tried quite a few albums over different times and I just can't past the vocals.

Surprised no one's mentioned Suede. I can picture a lot of people disliking the singer.

Oh yeah. Might like the Smiths w/o Morrissey, but then there's the tin can production to get past...

I don't care much for Leon Russells vocals, but he sings some of his compositions very emotionally.
