Underrated 90s albums

No I didn't. Even if it's half as good as its predecessor it'll be worth hearing.

 

Back on Top - Van Morrison

 

Do you know they have done 2 studio albums already since "Peasants" after they reformed, so this new album will be their 5th overall.

 

Another one:

Eggstone/Somersault

Excellent guitar pop from this Swedish band.

 

Blind Melon "Soup"



This album was a grower for me, but now it's one of my favs.

I think they only did that one record, the limited edition of the CD had a cover that was like a mood ring.

 

From Monday to Sunday is indeed great, and The Apple Bed is also terrific.

Underrated is sort of a vague term for me. Here are some records that I think deserved more praise and/or sales:

• Mazzy Star: Among My Swan
• Blur: 13
• Black Sabbath: Dehumanizer

 

She was all the talk until Liz Phair came along.

Mark Burgess and the Sons of God, Zima Junction. It's like an acoustic Chameleons LP, full of the usual great lyrics and melodies.

Happy New Life:

 

Elastica - "Elastica." Completely derivative and totally brilliant from start to finish---an album without a weak moment.

 

Aimee Mann -Whatever (1993).

 

They're not even well known here in Sweden. Should be.

For my money:

• Crowded House - Together Alone
• The Delgados - Domestiques (even a lot of Delgado fans disregard this one)
  
• Hefner - Breaking God's Heart
• Les Rythmes Digitales - Darkdancer
• Mansun - Six
• Pavement - Wowee Zowee (their opus, for me)
• Plumtree - Mass Teen Fainting & Predicts The Future
• Silver Jews - The Natural Bridge
• Teenage Fanclub - both Thirteen and Songs from Northern Britain

If I had to pick one it would be either Mansun or Plumtree.

 

I think the Japanese are carrying the flag for Eggstone. Some nice reissues, or a multi-disk box set would be nice at some point.
