There will be a new "complete" Columbia CD box set, including all the original masters, but it won't be released until next year. —> Sinatra on Columbia

I took Dustin's comment as Mercer being his favorite lyricist, and Sinatra his favorite singer.

Interesting to see the current Doonesbury rerun strips are the bad Sinatra ones. Why now??

As far as Mercer's voice, I like it. The album he did with Bobby Darin-Two of a Kind (mastered by our host) is excellent.

I could not argue the point if he said he was his favorite singer. In fact, I would have to say that of all the 20th century tunesmiths, Mercer had the most surprisingly fine singing voice. Bing once heard Johnny's version of "Summer Wind" and told Kathryn it was Mr. S!!!!!

He was a good singer. Interestingly, I never thought Mercer's voice matched his face/appearance, if that makes sense.

I meant to say that Mercer was my favorite lyricist and Sinatra was my favorite singer.

    Sorry to create any confusion.

I will say that I really enjoy Mercer's voice, and I love his album with Darin.

Also his recordings of these songs "Personality" and "My Sugar is so Refined" are my favorites by him.

I think my first realization of his lyrics came via Sinatra's voice on the song "I Thought About You"

The imagery was so vivid and beautiful. Film Noir kinda stuff here folks.

    Two glaring caption gaffes:
•A shot from the WHERE ARE YOU timeframe, with a huge CAPITOL logo on the mic, and a caption that reads something like "At a Columbia Records Recording Session"
•A shot of Frank at the Capitol tower, "1947"

I've enjoyed casually flipping through the magazine, though, errors aside.

I understand Kathy Lee Gifford had a less-than-favorable interview with Frank Jr. recently. She has gone on record as saying it was her worst interview...EVER!o_O

    I'm sure it was 10am wine-fest induced.

Remember that Jr. has recovered from throat cancer. He has NOT looked good in recent outings. I am praying that all will be well fro him to host the Sinatra 100 celebration here in Beverly Hills on the 100th birthday. I have great seats and am anxiously anticipating the event. I hope he is well.

I was talking about Kathy Lee, she's not the best interviewer that NBC's Today show has and is usually hitting the wine bottle hard at her 10am portion of Today.

I hope Jr. Recovers. I haven't seen a photo or anything of him in a while.

The interview and Kathie Lee's followup the next day can both both be found on the Today show's YouTube channel. Frank Jr. did not come across well, and I'm sure his Centennial appearance schedule has taken its toll. But I was surprised by KLG's mean-spirited comments, especially since she's a Sinatra fan.

    Watching it now.... ouch.

This is painful. They, honestly, should have sent Nancy or Tina to sit with Charles and the hosts.

Jr. was very stand-offish and not very pleasant.

He blew off an earlier early morning show interview the day his father's US stamp was unveiled. He was very stand-of fish and almost rude in that interview.

Frank Jr. never seemed to have much of a sense of humor or a personality. Never seems to smile much. But man was he unlikeable in this Today Show interview. If the purpose was to sell books and raise awareness, it misfired.

I've heard FS Jr is a real stick in the mud. This Today show interview reaffirms that:

One of the YouTube comments said that Jr. has a personality like that of a paper plate.
