Ooh La La - Faces. Not only a perfect end to the album but a perfect coda to their studio output.

The released some non-lp singles after that so it wasn't really the coda of their studio output.

Good point. I should have said their studio albums. And really, anything after Ooh La La is rather inconsequential. Or to put it another way, Ooh La La as their final song is how I prefer to remember them. They should have called it quits when Ronnie Lane left.

The Beatles: the lead out groove on SGT. Pepper's...which may not qualify as it never actually ends...

"Little Neutrino" from 'Klaatu', hands down.

THAT is an epic album closer.

The first part of the song was edited from a much longer instrumental jam session, with vocals added later. I think Stephen had some lyrics that worked, so off they went. The whole thing has a freewheeling, almost live feel, which I think is one of the best things about it.

Stills didn't have a problem "repurposing" lyrics -- see the "Questions" section of "Carry On."

I love how they reprise Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness at the end of Farewell and Goodnight.

I agree with you. I also don't consider it the weakest cut, although on that album, IMO, there are no really weak cuts. "Almost Cut My Hair" is my least favorite, keeping it in the realm of "IMO."
