Pageant and Out Of Time are my two favorites, with the former edging out, just because it's more guitar-heavy.

I voted for Automatic because of the memories connected to it. Could have picked any other album before it otherwise, as well. Any album after, though, ... Well, tastes differ.

Lost me after that. And I never cared much for Document.

Revisited "Around the Sun" last night. It's not as bad as I remembered but a lack of sonic variation really hurts this album. :sigh:
Most of the songs sound so subdued and somber that it makes the album sound lifeless.

"Monster" was the one that started it all for me when I was 14.
I played that CD every day at least once for a good six months.
It was the reason I decided to take up guitar playing full time. Before that I was a drummer who knew a few chords.

It may not be their most popular album, but it was the most important one for me.

I'm surprised that Accelerate, their "return to form," hasn't garnered at least 1 vote, being beaten by even "Around the Sun"

It could have been any of the IRS albums, or 'Automatic for the People' - but 'Lifes Rich Pageant' shades it for me.

Can we at least get a sympathy vote for "Collapse into Now"?

I started to put DOCUMENT as I think it is their best album, but then noticed the title said "Favorite" so I changed my vote to FABLES OF THE RECONSTRUCTION.
    My personal top 10:
    1. FABLES OF THE RECONSTRUCTION
    2. DOCUMENT
    3. OUT OF TIME
    4. MURMUR
    5. LIFE'S RICH PAGEANT
    6. GREEN
    7. RECKONING
    8. MONSTER
    9. AUTOMATIC FOR THE PEOPLE
    10. DEAD LETTER OFFICE (not in the poll I know)

I have no use for NEW ADVENTURES IN HI-FI except for the great "Electrolyte". After that I lost interest in REM.

I think it's by far their most underrated. There are a few turds on there, though.

Damn! Get Fables out of there and you've listed my top three, and maybe in my order of preference, too. :)

Was really tough to choose - narrowed it down to 7, then went with the one that the clerk in a record store recommended to me in '84. Reckoning was my introduction. I was in for the whole ride after that.
