I'm roughly that age, and, yeah, I remember that song making an impact. "Dreamweaver" was another song from that era that really made an impact as well.

Badfinger's "Day After Day" was yet another one: long before I knew who Badfinger were, or anything about their Beatles connection, I would sit by the radio hoping to hear "Day After Day" which was so sad, but also strangely uplifting, at the same time.

Twist and Shout ! Only kidding. "In My Life" becomes more poignant as you get older,no question of that.
Cheryl Crow did a tune called " It's So Easy" Don Henley sang on it.
    Very melodic and touching song.

Probably "X&Y" or "The Hardest Part" by Coldplay (my young age is REALLY showing).

'Life On Mars' by David Bowie. Probably the first song where I realised I like melancholy music.
    Also:
    'Yesterday' - Beatles
'Imagine' - John Lennon (yeah I know, cliched now but I loved it as a kid).
'Saturn', 'Uranus', 'Neptune' in a row - Holst 'The Planets'. Still does it for me now.

Elvis' IN THE GHETTO. Didn't understand a single word at the time but I was floored.

  9. 'Dedicated To The One I Love'. I remember hearing this as a four year old. I found those female voices soothing and attractive. I just checked that 'Strangers In The Night' had a 1966 release which would make it my earliest musical memory. That made me feel uneasy, there was something mournful about it that I didn't feel good about.

Yes. TV themes for me. "Lassie" and "Wonderful World of Disney". I believe they were on Sunday night and I used feel very nostalgic and sad, just because of the music.

Probably this. I was five years old, bite me!
Still think of the Italian girl in my primary school that I 'loved' (at five years old, you don't know the meaning of that word!). If I remember right her mum died of cancer, and she disappeared from our school after only being there for a short while. Never saw her again!

I can't remember. I hope it wasn't "Shannon" by Henry Gross, though.

The first one for me was Oh Yoko by John Lennon, when I first heard it, which was the night after he was shot.

I think the second was The Queen is Dead by The Smiths. The awesome / beautiful guitar playing in the second half of the songs literally made my eyes well up.
