  2. I seem to envision a teenage Dalek pissing off Dad with his new audio system that is always "too loud"
I also see dust collecting in the fabric cover and that cover being damaged by the cleaning process.
Maybe, for the price, B&O sends a service to your house twice a year to "maintain" the appearance of the speakers.

You've heard the speakers? They aren't even in stores yet. I have some friends that work for b&o and they still haven't heard or seen them.

I agree that often b&o is overpriced but still. Maybe these are amazing. Don't knock em until you've heard em.

No,haven't heard them but they're not going to sound shabby judging by the cost.

Well. At that price they better sound amazing. I spent 6 years installing b&o products. I know that can sound really good but better can be had for cheaper.

A valid complaint with many B&O products but not these ugly monsters. I think they look like sin and I'm a huge B&O fan.

I would like to hear them, though.

Fortunately those speakers are time lord aligned and prepared to deal with Daleks.

  15. For the record, I am a big fan of the B&O ICEpower amps. The company certainly has engineering chops and their products aren't all about design.

Actually, these speakers are proof that B&O isn't all about design . . . unless this is Bizarro World . . .

Am I the only one that thinks they look cool? They would look odd in my home, but they wouldn't look out of place in a gallery. They look more sculptural/modern art than most hi-fi speakers

With all of the info online, the specs don't mention frequency range!
    What's up with that?

Wondering if they convert the analog input to digital - as the Meridian speakers do.

About the price and look: you can bet these will be bought by the Robb Report crowd.

Despite all of this, I've always loved the look of the earlier B&O components with touch sensitive buttons.
The only turntable ever displayed in the Museum Of Modern Art in NYC.
I saw one there as a child and even got to play with it!
    I wanted one instantly.

Nope. I love the look. If I had a huge, minimalist space with nothing but an Eames chair and, say, a Gyrodec, I'd be all over them.

Oh. I'd also need about $80k more this. I've got, too...

These are too much about style. Also over complex (3 tweeters /mid when one would do maybe better). Not sure about the ICE (digital?) amps either. I think these are more aimed at AV than hi-fi market and buyers who want show with deep pockets.

Adding a DAC and a full complement of electronics to speakers is nothing new, Meridian has been doing it for years with some pretty impressive results.
But as Meridian has found out, having just a music server and two speakers in a room is not tweaky enough for audiophiles.

I was pretty unimpressed by those Meridian speakers at shows. The stuff they did 30 years ago sounded better. I'm afraid all the UK major hi-fi brands started producing so so to awful sound some years back. Trying to emulate B&O?

I must disagree. The Meridian DSP8000 stands out as one of the best speakers I've ever heard.
I should ad, there sound was very clean, folks that prefer vintage gear with lots of added color etc may not be impressed.

I'm not talking about clean v coloured - they just don't play music - too hi-fi (digital amps ?)

My guess is you haven't heard them.
Don't confuse digitally active with digital amps. They use 2 analog 200 watt amps per speaker, each amp has twin toroidal transformers. Big power draw and big heat sinks.
They do play music, and please everyone that comes in contact with them.
