    I just received an email:
"Sierra Records is pleased to announce we are now accepting advance pre-release orders for the first of the new Sierra High Fidelity, audiophile 'UHD' LP vinyl albums, "RANDY MEISNER - TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT" produced by Joey Stec of Sonic Past Music and Randy Meisner. This is a joint venture with Sonic Past Music run my our friend, Joey Stec (rock legend in his own right) who was also a close personal friend of Gram Parsons and Brandon deWilde.

I am sure most if not all of you know who Randy is, first with such groups as "The Poor", an original member of "Poco", then Rick Nelson's Stone Canyon Band. But Randy made his true mark as an original member of the Eagles. Now Randy is in the "Rock & Roll Hall of Fame" and will receive as a member of the Eagles, the Kennedy Center Honors this coming December.

This album marks the first time these original analog master recordings have been issued on vinyl anywhere in the world. Recorded after leaving "The Eagles" and releasing three solo albums, one on Asylum Records and two on CBS/Sony in the early 80s, these songs could only be heard on various CD quality releases over the last few decades exclusively through Joey Stec's Sonic Past Music label. But only now can their full audiophile sound quality be heard on this Sierra High Fidelity/Sonic Past Music "UHD" vinyl release, a true sonic revelation! The best of the these audiophile masters were selected for this one of a kind vinyl release including original Meisner songs plus such 'Eagles' standard as "Try and Love Again", their first hit, "Take It Easy" and Meisner's classic hit song and the album's title song, "Take It To The Limit".

At the Sierra Records Mail Order website:

    sierrarecords.net

There is much more technical information about the original analog tapes, DMM mastering at Abbey Road Studios, how the vinyl album will be pressed and specially numbered packaged, etc.

    SONGS:
    Long Time Blue
    Try And Love Again (live)
    Take It Easy
    Walk Of Life
    My How Things Have Changed
    Lonely Again
When The Rubber Meets The Road
    Never Had A Broken Heart
    Darkness Of The Heart (live)
Take It To The Limit (live)

The album will be released in late November at which time the price will be set at $25.98 plus shipping/handling (counts as 3 items). But if you pre-order now with payment prior to October 31, 2015, the price is only $18.98 and shipping/handling costs count only as 1 item. You can order directly from website listed on "FALL SALE & NEW RELEASES" or click on this link:

Following on the heals of that release will be the anticipated release of "Gene Clark-The Lost Studio Sessions 1964-1982" a 2LP and hybrid SACD release. It will first be available in the collector' limited, numbered, box edition. A completely separate new website is under construct now in which you will be able to actually be a part of the album's release and to place your order. Those on the "Gene Clark Priority List" will be the first to be able to order from this website for what is likely to be a classic release of Gene Clark performances. Stay tuned.

Now to other business, with today's concern for the environment and other reasons related to cancer causing PVC - poly vinyl chloride, ie. "plastic" and their over use of any kind like 'throw away plastic wrap' on compact discs, and LP records before that, this issue is now a major concern. Sierra Records has been looking into some new 'outside' wraps that are now coming on to the market that are not made from PVC but are 100% recyclable and even 100% biodegradable, safe for the environment but yet provide you, the consumer with a "new, wrapped" product. We are happy to report progress in that goal. Starting now, all new Sierra Record releases; compact disc, vinyl LPs will be packaged in recyclable, non-carcinogenic, wrap. But we hope soon to find yet another suitable wrap that is also biodegradable as well. We will keep you posted and hope you appreciate the efforts in that regard.

Many of the previous Sierra Record releases are now available as digital downloads (MP3) on itunes, amazon, Pandora, Spotify, emusic, and many, many other digital download platforms around the world. Coming in the next months, all the remaining past Sierra and the old Sierra/Briar albums, many which were never released on compact disc plus unreleased Sierra album, will be available as digital downloads. You can hear samples of all the songs now at these various services.
Of course, the full original compact discs of these albums will continue to be available at the Sierra Records Mail Order website:

    sierrarecords.net

For the future, new albums will also be available later as digital downloads from those above services but also available on high resolution services that are being offered as well. For our tech minded customers, the original analog master tapes in our library and those that we will obtain in the future will be archived to DSD 256 (Quad) digital format by means of Merging Technologies' Pyramix Hapi AD/DA Converter.

There are only a few copies of " Tut Taylor & Clarence White-Flatpicking,"Tut Taylor-Dobrolic Plectral Society" and the two John Hartford import compact discs.

Please note that the US Postal Service of late has been delaying the delivery of orders once they are delivered to the main postal center. We have complained about this and we are looking into moving some of our shipping services, especially outside North America back to DHL.

The next two and half months are going to be quite busy. The best way to communicate with Sierra Records, me, is by email at [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
