Broo, i still dun get it. Exactly at where do i do the left turn???
Ok, coming out from nakano station, walk all the way into nakano shopping center and walk all the way and see the nakano broadway sigh turn left and see a Mr Donut shop walk straight towards the traffic light...cross the road and see the nakano Disk union.
From here i am totally lost...???
Can elaborate further with photos to see and look at. I have been to nakano so many times but i have never came across this 100 yen record fair at all and i am dying to want go and dig some gems somehow why i am not going to give it a miss...so make my wish come true, broo.

Is this the place that i should hit left turn. If yes, from here how do i proceed to.

Broo, yes there is a mcdonald inside nakano walk straight and it's on the left.
Assuming that the mcdonald is before or after...so i'll just turn left into the lane and the the 100 yen LP fair is there.
Anyway, what are the 100 yen LP like??? Cause i see the word metal on it. Do they have good metal LP at 100 yen there and besides metal i am also into blues rock too.

The new shinjuku rock shop is just opposite across the street. It's in the white building if i am not wrong. I was there last month at the old shop 6th or 7th floor where they had already cleared all the stuff there leaving behind all the empty shelf but i still manage to grab a couple of good titles there. The staff told me it's just directly opposite only...i kinda feel weird that they like to shift from here and there. Last time the metal section was just in front of the station so near and later they shifted and now they shifted again. Should be going for a bigger space, this is what the staff had told me.

Yeah I was shinjuku kino, I didn't even realize they'd opened an lp shop across from the main store until I came home and saw the flyer, but me and my friend were completely drunk and hitting on women, hey kids, you can pound alcohaul inside stores in Jp and no one will even look at you sideways....Valhalla !!!

Yeah, remember when the metal shop was by the stairs ekimae? Way smaller, where the punk shop still is, above that porn store in the basement? And when the massive prog store was downstairs across from the Jazz store? Before they moved onto one of the floors in the main store? Like half the size? Jp people are kindof stupid that way, like for a month or two at the bookoff in Kichijoji they made a separate metal section, and then when I went back a few days ago it was like before..here it takes a committee of 7 prople to spend hours discussing bs what would take one person in America to do in about 5 minutes, nihonjin, so advanced yet so stupid

Yes broo, you are right. The japanese like to move from here to there, beside, across or move up. My last trip i was looking for some Roy Buchanan Lp bt normally b4 i wil go to rock side. I wil always be at the metal side first. Bt the last haul at shinjuku was a disaster ending up buying only a jap press White snake best dbl Lp @500 yen wheras at metal side. All used metal Lp was selling at sky high price. Saw the 1st n 2nd stormwarrior Lp bt oh my gosh. It goes for almost 6k yen. I could,nt bear to part with my money and in end make my move. But i end up hitting 4 Roy Lp at nakano Du. That was like a god bless to me whew feeling happy.

Btw, any good and cheap metal Lp shop in japan which i can check out beside DU.

Hey you stil did not gave a definite answer about the 100 yen Lp fair at nakano for direction.

the next LP sale at the Nakano wharehouse is on Sat. and Sun. 10/10 and 10/11...see post #298 for the map, if you cant read a simple map you have no business coming to Nihon, you wont make it here! and JP people are kinda stupid in their own special way, meaning it takes like 5 minutes of conversation to get a simple answer that would take 10 seconds in America...yet that answer may be completely wrong asd totally confuisng...per the dude at the store just now, all the info is on their blog, good luck!

Ok, think I'm nearly ready (leaving a week from tonight).

I've got 2 large suitcases and 1 large duffel (that can hold more than 100 12" vinyl LP's) as well as my carryon and backpack. JAL will allow me 3 checked bags maximum 40K/70lb each. I figure those can comfortably hold 100 vinyl albums each, or 600 7" each. I've got all my clothes and toiletries, laptop & iPad, etc packed neatly into my carryon and backpack.

Really excited. I hope I end up with a problem having TOO MUCH stuff to bring home - that would be a nice problem to have. I figure the first solution would be try to fit a bunch of it into the carryon and backpack and put the (much lighter) dirty clothes and toiletry kit into the checked bags. If I have to go beyond that, I have packing materials with me so I can package up whatever I've got to ship, and then take it to the main Shibuya post office and ship it home via the slow boat/cheap method. If I do have to do this, I'll (obviously) send the least valuable items and put the most valuable into my luggage.

Hope you guys have left some cheap but clean prog & metal gems for me.. or even a few cool Mickey Newbury albums.

    Mikel

Hot chix in kimonoes, drunken revellry, traditional Jp dance and performance, awesome stuff! On the 17th we're doing
Hon-Kawagoe and Kodaira (my town) on the 18th...Hon-Kawagoe is the epic one!!!

Just cane back from tokyo...yeah you are right broo rcdupre. The Naknao Lp fair starts today and tomorrow...i asked the staff there when i was at nakano Disk Union last friday.

For this trip...i get most of my Lp at shinjuku side as there was not much stuff in nakano and shibuya even ochanomizu rock and metal side does not have much for me but i still goes for those cheap cd's that they throw out.

As for the shijuku Disk Union metal shop, prices were quite high as i do not want to pay for a premium price on those second hand record even though the titles are good for example one of the band call Stormwarrior Lp which i saw the 1st album there still i got to give it a pass and hope that prices will goes down soon.

This 3 Lp are not japanese made Lp. The stormwitch is an european release and the ritual carnage is also an european release Lp. Normally for what i know is metal Lp.s can seldom find those japanese release unless unless you are very lucly to have score on a onslaught or running wild in japanese mode made but i say that is super rare and i have yet to see any of my buddy collectors holding onto any japanese made Metal Lp. do you know where to find them in japan for metal Lp,s that comes with obi made in japan other then rock and pop.

I don't think metal Lps can cost less than 500 yen even the cheapest for metal Lp i have bought also cost me at least above 500 yen.

It's the end of day 4 here in Tokyo, and I've already picked up enough stuff to fill all three of my suitcases and have shipped home two boxes of 7" singles, each holding about 70 singles. So far, I've only hit the Disk Union's in Shinjuku, and the Recofan, HMV, and DU's in Shibuya. I'm actually really impressed with the pricing of the stuff at the Disk Union rock vinyl store here in Shinjuku. I've been picking up excellent Japanese albums with Obis for about ¥700 on average, and awesome Japanese 7 inch singles for around ¥400 or ¥500.

Although the quality of the stuff isn't as high at Recofan, the sheer volume of lower price items makes up for it. Their album prices seem to be higher on average than the stuff I'm picking up at the DUs, but they've been having a sale where if you buy five items priced over ¥350, every item you purchase is ¥200 off. In the last two days, I think I've hauled out about 120 7" inch singles, almost all of them were priced at ¥450, so after the sale that brings their price down to ¥250, or A little over $2 each US. Amazing for mint & near mint Japanese pressings, mostly from the 70s - 90's. And the DUs have great prices on classic 70s 7" stuff like Queen, Led Zeppelin, Simon and Garfunkel, McCartney and wings, etc., usually for between ¥500 - ¥800.

Not sure where to go tomorrow, I've spent enough time at the stores here & Shibuya. I know I could spend another day digging and come away with some stuff, but I've picked all the low hanging fruit and it's time to move on to greener pastures. I'll review your list of stops on the stations and maybe just start moving out from here to the next station or two along the line. I want to go to Yokohama, I understand the Recofan there is pretty amazing, but I think I'll save that for this weekend or early next week.

I've already spent close to $2000, but feel like I just barely scratched the surface. Each of the boxes of 7" singles that I shipped home I sent via SAL, and they both cost ¥7300 each, or roughly $65. The way I figure it, that means I'm adding a little under one dollar to the cost of each 7 inch single to ship them home. That's affordable. I'm going to have to try it with some albums soon, but I am afraid the adder for that is going to be significantly more, maybe $2.50 to 3 dollars per record? I'll let you know when I get there.

Hi bro MightyVinyl, if you are into those 7 inch singles...then you should check out the Hard Off stores as they are selling many 7 inch at 57 Yen per piece. As i personally not really into 7 inch but i did found some good stuffs there and also i am too lazy to go thru one by one.
