Sad to hear. RIP! I have been listening to the AF Greatest Hits. What a string of hits!

Sad news indeed. Sly & the Family Stone are one of my two or three all time favourites and Cynthia's horn and hype vocals were essential ingredients in their special brew.
So there go the reunion fantasies. If anyone could have pulled it together it was probably her.

I've been on a big Sly and the Family Stone kick thanks to the recent AF release. I spun the Dance to he Music album this morning in her honor.

    RIP

If you're going to include Simon & Garfunkel then Chad & Jeremy should be added. :)

THAT is one of the coolest things ever presented on the Sullivan show! I love it when Sly and Rose go down into the audience where all of the squares sitting there look so stiff and uptight, and then quickly thaw and start getting into the music!

RIP. I only know about the band as a whole unit with their leader Sly Stone. I know very little about the other band members. Great music though.

There's other exceptions like Elton & Taupin, I think a 1965 touring version of Them with Van Morrison, 1 version of Jeff Beck group circa 1969, an early version of Supertramp, 1969 Kinks and some regional acts.

I haven't been online today. This was terribly saddening to read about. Every time I used to see film footage of her from before Sly burned out, I always noted how proud she seemed to be in helping Sly bring the goods when they were in their prime. She helped to make Sly a mover.

Take Fleetwood Mac of the list, Bob Dayton is no longer among the living.

Last thing they recorded together that was released was hydraulic pump by the p-funk all stars!

Ahhh, I should've known. How could I forget Hydraulic Pump?! I used to drive around with it on repeat. All 11 or 12 funky minutes over and over.
That reminds me, I need to pull out that entire album and give it a spin. A great mix-up of George and the true P-Funk all stars (Bootsy, Michael Hampton, Eddie Hazel, Blackbyrd, Maceo, Garry Shider, Bobby Womack, Sly & Junie!).
One of the many fun parts of Hydraulic Pump is figuring out which parts Sly's singing, i.e. "Gotta, gotta, gotta do it" and the cackling "Hahahaha Hydraulic Pump squad!" his trademark cookie monster "Pump it up and down."

    Great track.
