Looks like we are getting some foo news in 24 hours:

    http://lobby.foofighters.com

Perhaps an ep of the songs they recorded in Austin?

    Sonic highways 2?

The FLACs are 24-bit/192kHz too! You can pre-order vinyl now, but it says it won't ship until February.

  14. In cause anyone cares, the DR #'s in order are 5, 5, 4, 8, and 4. And yes, there are from the 24/192 FLAC download.

Have not listened to anything yet, so maybe they sound OK, but surely someone f*cked up to let Iron Rooster sneak through with a DR of 8. :)

It actually doesn't sound terrible for being so squashed (not like the Foos ever really went for high dynamic range, brickwall is part of their sound), but I was shocked to see those numbers when I ran them through TTDR.

Prob. gonna downsample the FLAC's to 16/44. I love the hi-res gesture, but this recording gains absolutely nothing from it.

Good tracks though. Dunno if any are real classics, but I've never not enjoyed a Foos release.

I certainly appreciate that they are setting an example by releasing these as 24/192!

After a few listens, I think I like these tracks better than most of Sonic Highways.

I'd rather they set the example by releasing dynamic 128kbps MP3s. Hi res is crap when it's this compressed and brickwalled.

Well, sure, except dynamic range has never been what their sound is (for better or for worse).

This EP is awful. Frankly, it's middle of the road commercial pap. I kind of knew it would be too.

Shame. They will just never reach the heights again of their first two albums.
