It amazes me that "they" still have not correctly figured out how to capture her voice and record it properly.

I'm sorry but I'll take Whitney's vocals in her prime over Adele's anytime.

Have to agree to disagree. Never a fan of the songs she picked (too much sap) and I far prefer Dolly Parton's original over Whitney's.

But American Idol wouldn't exist without contestants trying to emulate her, so clearly I'm in the minority.

As I said a few days ago, sometimes these forums remind me of when I was a teenager arguing with my parents over music ''you call that music, back in my day we had music you could.......''
    You get the idea.

She does remind me a bit of Dusty and I'd love to see her do a Dusty biopic before she gets too old.

On that note, I'd like to see her collaborate with the Pet Shop Boys before they get too old.

yes, it's official she broke the first week UK sales with 737,000 so far and counting.
It's tragic that Oasis fans are going to constantly point out that they sold more in 3 days. Which as I've pointed out doesn't matter because weekly tabulations have been historically tabulated WEEKLY and to give some kind of special status to a 3 day tally makes about as much sense as taking it to a 3 hour tally.
Wow! I sold more records than you in 3 hours! hahaha....
Those silly brothers made the mistake of dropping their biggest seller in the middle of the week. Dumb move if you ask me. But hey, they sold, the band is crying all the way to the bank.....and to second class status under the heel of Adele.:goodie:

Well, the official UK first week figures are in.

A staggering 800,307 album sales, of which 252,423 were digital, the rest being CD.

Amazing that over 1 in every hundred people in the UK spent actual money buying one particular album in its first week of release. This is 2015, not meant to happen.
As a buyer of music, particularly CD's, this made me smile a bit (didn't buy Adele myself though. :hide:).

Adele's new album was playing at Zia this morning during the Record Store Day opening. Up to this point I had never really paid much attention to her as I'm not really into most mainstream pop. But I have to say that I was liking much of what I was hearing. What an emotional album and performance. I do like her voice, but I also worry about its longevity what with her rough singing style. But that style perfectly fits the material. Way to go girl.

I'd love for MFSL or Audio Fidelity to release an SACD of this album. I know. Fat chance.

I have no idea if she's damaging her voice, but it seems like a sensible sacrifice to make if that's the case. She's white-hot right now and there are no guarantees about the future.
