    but...

The only new Mo-Fi Airplane title I'm seeing here is the "TBA'd" mono Surrealistic Pillow SACD... :)

DCC or Mofi could licence top sellers two decades ago. Today... almost impossible.

    See the black list:

    AC/DC
    The Beatles
    Black Sabbath
    CSNY
    Iron Maiden
    Metallica
    Rolling Stones
    Bob Seger
    Van Halen
    ZZ Top

    And many other artists.

Hi Claus. Why can't AF get a license en these bands. The companys only reissue normal versions or Deluxe versions on cd. They don't take any risk if AF or Mofi license a Sacd. Just cash in and be happy.

I definitely see your point, however, those of us who grew up listening to 90's are in our 30's or early 40's. So we're ready to drop coin.

And most of the 90's stuff I've seen released gets gobbled up like crazy (thanksgiving pun intended)

A few I'd like to see - if less compressed/limited masterings are even possible:

    Black Keys
    Flaming Lips
    TV on the Radio
    Wilco

Robert C, beverett and mikeyt like this.
  13. Miles Davis Kind Of Blue & The Allman Brothers Fillmore East haven't been re-released in high resolution in a few months, overdue. . .

I am in for these titles, but they aren't available for pre-order yet.

The 2016 catalog also shows Surrealistic Pillow. Was it just announced? It is available for pre-order on vinyl and SACD.

Has anyone unhappy with MFSL's title selection actually written, you know, Music Direct for comment?

I'd be interested to find out more details about the Ultradisc One Step laquer process as mentioned on page 177 of the catalog. Santana Abraxas is the first slated release (UDIS 001).

We never got Grateful Dead 'Live/Dead' from last year's catalogue. Do the still show it in the new catalogue?

I get the feeling that if they ever listened to suggestions here people would still find something else to complain about.

    Yep.

It's not the best alternative, but a lot of it was included in her 3-cd Dutchess of Coolsville anthology. RHINO did a splendid remastering job IMO.

With respect, do wee need more Kind of Blue and Allman Fillmore reissues?

    Instead, how about:

Bruce Hornsby and the Range's first 3 albums.
    10,000 Maniacs' catalog with Natalie.
    Rosanne Cash's catalog.
    Dire Straits' catalog.
Joni Mitchell's most essential albums, at least.
    JJ Cale

    OK, gotta stop now.....

Lot's of complains in this thread, they wouldn't issue these titles if there was no demand. For all the whining about KOB it's almost sold out! Unfortunately the demand for high quality reissues of 80's and 90's material does not exist in sufficient numbers to merit them doing it.
When you go to a record store look and see what bins are empty. How many mint copies of Live at the Fillmore are filling the bins? Usually it one or two well played copies.
While I do sympathize with younger members who would like their favorites to be given the audiophile treatment, unfortuntely they will only sell to that segment of the audio population.

Understandable but there are still many questions left unanswered. How about Black Sabbath Paranoid? What about new albums like Adele's 25 (or 19 or 21) that is breaking sales records, is the audience for a good mastering too small compared to Miles Davis fans who can't seem to get enough masterings? I just don't see the real desire to master old albums that already sound great.

I generally like the titles I have gotten from MFSL (now and in the past). For that matter I like what I get from Audio Fidelity also. But, how much can you mine the same stuff seemingly over and over from the 70's. AF at least has tried a couple of different genres like folk, soundtracks and r&b. Still it's the same general timeframe for the most part. We all have favorites from other time periods and genres we would like to see. Looking at stuff like Pearl while I have always loved it is, well simply, boring. And as others mentioned Cheap Thrills after AF has done this already is almost infuriating. Yea, I'm still going to buy Nashville Skyline SACD and other Miles etc when they finally come out but it just isn't with the same excitement and enthusiasm I'd have for an unexpected favorite.

And I am far from a younger member
