I mean, sometimes the principles are there, but it's credited differently, or they hadn't settled on a name, or whatever.

    The Iveys/Maybe Tomorrow: Badfinger
Al Kooper, Roy Blumenfeld, Danny Kalb, Steve Katz, Andy Kulberg Of The Blues Project
    Leslie West/Mountain
Jamming With Edward: The Rolling Stones
    Phillipe Debarge: The Pretty Things

KinkySmallFace1991 Will you come back to me, Sweet Lady Genevieve?

Dave Davies' Hidden Treasures (recorded 1967-69, released 2011)- The Kinks (Pete Quaife/John Dalton and Mick Avory back Dave up for every song, and Ray plays keyboards and harmonica)
Return To Waterloo (1985) - The Kinks (released as Ray Davies solo even though they all play on it)

Denny Laine's Holly Days is basically a Wings album, just Paul, Linda, and Denny.

Rod Stewart / Faces early 1970's albums.

I think a lot of soundtrack albums would fit this category.

If I may stray slightly...singles as opposed to albums...I never felt-and never will-that Free As a Bird or Real Love are really part of "The Beatles" discography. I don't even feel that they belonged on the "1+" video collection. Simply put, it's John Lennon with Paul, George and Ringo added.

How about "The Cheerful Insanity of Giles, Giles and Fripp", as a proto-King Crimson album?

Has so many things Genesis related I sorta wonder why they didn't just get Tony on it and brand it like that. I mean, Peter got a whole album to himself the year before.

all of the projeKCts, including a scarcity of miracles, are probably de facto king crimson releases for most fans (sorry, RF).

  20. Tame Impala - Melody's Echo Chamber. The one album by Melody's Echo Chamber is kind of Tame Impala's version of The Velvet Underground & Nico - primary Impala Kevin Parker produced, mixed, and played almost all of the instruments.

'So Red the Rose' - Arcadia

The darker, moodier Duran Duran album that wasn't. If it was in the band's official catalogue it would be one of the stronger entries. Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, and Roger Taylor's answer to the Power Station back in 1985 when Duran Duran took a hiatus. It still features more original band members than 'Pop Trash' (i.e. 3 vs. 2) did from 1999.

    'Like A Virgin' - Madonna

Nile Rodgers, Tony Thompson, and Bernard Edwards as the rhythm section makes this the CHIC album (with Madge on lead vox) that wasn't.
