I also saw them in Edinburgh too, but can't remember which night.

Siouxsie and The Banshees were pretty dreadful on the Seven Year Itch tour, and I'm a huge Banshees fan.

Sure, but it took them 13 years after they reunited! Granted, they did have a handful of new songs before 2007 - the two new tracks in 1994, "Hole in the World" in 2003 - but it still took them a loooong time to produce a full new album...

Aerosmith never broke up. They were a working band throughout the entire decade of the 80s, not just when "Walk This Way" revived their popularity...

+1 on this, and here's hoping The Smiths never reform, too.

The Pretenders after Pretenders II. I loved the original lineup who had a lot of potential to be an all-time great band had it not been for the ouster of Farndon and death of Honeyman-Scott.

By that measure, the list of bands that should never have "come back" to record a second album include Boston, The Cars, The Doors, Television, Guns N' Roses, Van Halen, Weezer, Oasis, and the Ramones.
Oh, and I guess Michael Jackson should've just died after Thriller...??

Whilst it was amazing to have the originals back together I think Andy Gill should retire the Gang Of Four name now he’s the only original member left.

Can't think of any band who produced better work as a the result of a comeback. The cash grab tour type reunions are particularly distressing to witness. Usually, they are hard pushed not to tarnish a reputation or spoil memories for fans.

Velvets first thing that came to mind. If it had happened in 1976-1978, could've been amazing. but lou seemed to be sleepwalking thru it. Cale has some interesting stories as to what happened (went wrong) in his book.....

NO. Long Distance Voyager is their best album. You can't take that away from them.

Stones Roses. They weren't that good to begin with.

Also even though I'm a big fan, part of me wishes Blur had called it a day some time ago.

I dunno. Done With Mirrors and Permanent Vacation are good albums IMO. After that I agree with you - the descent into Bon Jovi-inspired predictable pop mediocrity.

Van Halen with DLR. Their original six albums changed the face of rock music and were genre-defining. A Different Kind of Truth? A desperate and IMO pitiful attempt at reliving that glory. Roth looks and sounds like a cross between a clown and a confused grandfather.

Pffffft. Best album my butt. They were an adult contemporary band by then. Far from the progressive rock pioneers they once were.
