As I work my way through their catalog (not chronologically) I keep discovering real gems, as good as their better known songs. "The Way They Were", the album that the Bachman-Peterson-Kale-Cummings incarnation began after American Woman and before they booted Randy, has some real stunners: "Palmyra", " "Take The Long Way Home" , "Running Down the Street" - that arent even much diminshed by the unfinished production.

Their albums seem to be one or two songs shy of masterpieces, though "#10" and "Road Food' are pretty solid throughout.

The entire 1968-1975 RCA catalog has a lot og deep album gems, beyond their top 40 hits.

  3. The best thing they ever did was "It's My Pride", a b-side from 1966.

A Wednesday In Your Garden is one I like a lot from the early albums. I agree #10 and Road Food are both very good albums from the post-Bachman years.

"Hang Onto Your Life" (a single, not really a hit) is my pick for their best. "Bye Bye Babe" was great too.

Nationally I think it reached #43. However, I think it was a more substantial hit in the center of the country. They had a much more loyal following in the upper Midwest than they did on the coasts...

I remember this as a hit since it seemed to be the one Guess Who song that got a lot of FM airplay. Seems it flopped as an actual single though.

Guess it depends on what market you were in. In Detroit Most of these were top twenty at worst. CKLW being right across the river and Canadian content and all. I was surprised that Nashville Sneakers was an album track. I never had Rockin'.

I really like The Guess Who. Share the Land was the first album I ever bought, using money I made mowing lawns. But holy buckets(!!) I never knew they were working on an album between American Woman and Share the Land. Is this available anywhere? I'd love to hear it.

It can be found on vinyl fairly easily. If I recall correctly. it was released on cd as a French import that Randy Bachman once sold on his website. Most of the tracks were sprinkled as bonus tracks to the remasters.
