Yes, Spotify is great for 'previewing' albums. It's both cost me and saved me a lot of money.:D

Was Wonderful Crazy Night recorded to tape? It sure sounds like it. A Good Heart is my favorite so far.

Shockingly it's an amazingly good album. Best he's done since the 70s.

I just listened to the LP for the first time. Pressed at United. Side one looked a little scuffed but played perfectly. Side two looked perfect and had a single "tick". A single 'tick' in 40+ minutes of music is certainly a well pressed LP. The record was flat, pressed on center, and sounded fine.

As for the music; I really enjoyed it. I'm saddened by Elton's voice. I understand that voices age. These songs with Elton's voice from the early years would make a classic LP.

I agree that MIE is #1 but this album is damn close. I think this album eventually could out rank MIE in my view. Its the most "Elton John" like album he's done in quite some time.

You should definitely get it. Download the app to your iPad now! It's free and you can make fantastic playlists. Not to mention listen to all the new albums as they come out.

There are a few ads, but nothing to get upset about.

Played it about 5 times really good album , nice hooks, not too long ( which was the main issue with TDB ) Elton sounds fine to me could be my most played album since SFTWC.
Hope it charts high for him.

    Peace and love✌

The reviews for this are really good. Elton must be thrilled. It's ironic that he had to wait pretty much until his mid-50s (SFTWC) to get regular rave reviews. His early 'classic' stuff wasn't always that well received. After SFTWC in 2001, every album has been highly praised by critics.

Where's @fredblue, by the way. Struck dumb by the majesty of WCN?

Or burning his entire Elton collection because he hates it.:D

I'd imagine so. I think Elton's been an analogue guy for years.

I thought the CD sounded really nice. However, I didn't want to be the first to say this lest I be torn apart for not recognising things like 'brickwalling' and 'compression'.

People can be harsh on here.:D

After my second listening, the album is even better and that's a good sign. Elton is definitly one of the greatest, don't know why he's wasting his mojo helping that Gaga girl to record a new album. Creativity is a precious thing, he should not waste it on that untalented woman. She sucks really hard.

If I can give a précis of some of the reactions of the others at the party, these are some of the comments I can remember..
(we played the new album 3 & 1/2 times before we went back in time and started playing the other EJ albums from days gone by.. I finally crawled into bed a few hours ago! Wonderful and crazy don't do it justice!!)

    "He is back!"

"His Best album since Made In England!"

"He must be back on the booze!"

"Not a bad track on the album!"

    "He's still got it"

    "Even the ballads are upbeat!"

England And America went down very well, better than the other 3 Bonus tracks which we skipped on the last play through.

Davey's guitar work and Kim's keyboard playing got particular praise.

    General consensus amongst the other fans there last night was;

    - the sound quality and general production sound is streets ahead of Diving Board,

    - His voice is much better than the last album..

    - the songs are all much stronger than TDB..

    - biggest favourites by far were "Claw Hammer", "In The Name Of You", "England And America", "Looking Up", the title track, "A Good Heart", "Guilty Pleasure" & "The Open Chord".

Seeing that box has made me wish I'd gone for the Super Deluxe now...

Even though I'd pretty much be paying £40 extra for 2 songs..

Longtime Elton fan. Really loving the new record a lot. Some really strong stuff. The title cut is especially catchy, but I don't think there's a bad song in the bunch. England and America is wonderful and should not have been left off the album. Sound quality is exceptional.
