Wish I had the spare cash to join the 'T-shirt of the Week' club. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna take a nap, so I can stay up 'till midnight!!
I was surprised to see a new episode recorded by the Fios dvr last week. It's been so long since I had set up the series/record function,I had forgot all about it.It was the Gargantua 2 episode so it was off by a week.I guess we're all getting a little impatient.
They were smart in getting rid of their "Sovereign/Bowie" 'situation before the untimely demise of the REAL David Bowie. In this article, there's a little 'tribute' to the man! The Venture Bros. blew up its universe, moved to NYC—and stayed as fun as ever | Ars Technica
That's funny! I just read that article on Ars Technica! Back to the subject of DVRs, I'd set it twice because it is re-broadcasted again for the West Coast(if you live in Eastern or Central time zones), I used to do this all the time for Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Black Dynamite.
And here's a nice article from The Daily Beast about the show's premiere and a brief talk with the creators and voices behind the scenes... http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...f-the-venture-bros-tv-s-craziest-cartoon.html The article also presents a 6-minute overview of the past 4 or 5 seasons, which is incredibly complicated and hilarious. I love this show.
So.... that's a little more 'professional' than I'm used to! Poor H.E.L.P.E.R. AND, I was totally wrong about the Guild...... AND, AND, I still hope they make as many 'obscure-o' '80's music references as they used to!
I saw it when it aired but I would like to see it again to see things I might had missed. It's locked on the AdultSwim app and my cable provider is not on the approved list.
Before I saw it on-demand, it was available on the Adult Swim web-site, in four segments, with a few commercials in-between each.
Well..... they're all 'set-up' for a new life in the BIG APPLE! So, there's tons of new 'costumed heroes & villains' to deal with...
GREAT start to the new season. I laughed my ass off. Any show these days that forces me to pause the DVR while I laugh for 30 seconds has gotta have something to it. I have to say, the production and animation quality has really been upgraded quite a bit. The ongoing stories about how neurotic and paranoid all the characters are is just hilarious. As the show producer/writers have said, "this is a show about failure," and I can see how this has affected just about every storyline they do.
Re: last night's episode.... I said OBSCURE-O '80's MUSIC!!! NOT DURAN DURAN!!!!! Of course, it's hard to tell if they were 'f#$kin' with people with us, who KNOW that Spandau Ballet DIDN'T record "If You Leave"!
The bit with Henrietta Pussycat was as funny as it was twisted. Well, the Nantucket Sleigh Ride reference made me immediately think of this 1971 album by Leslie West and Mountain:
I used to work for the PBS college station when I was going to film school in the 1970s, and I can do a bang-on impression of Henrietta Pussycat from Misterogers Neighborhood. I almost did a spit-take when the guy talked in that voice going into the shower -- absolutely hilarious, bizarre bit.
Did you notice that that Billy Quizboy "1980s" clip had VHS breakup and glitches in it? That's hilarious.
Well.... in typical "VB" fashion, the BIG REVEAL is who The Monarch's dad is just 'came and went'! At least, they keep me satisfied with one small 'music' reference: "We are the robots!" The little tease about calling Dr. O made me want to see him (and The Triad) again!
Holy Cow! I kinda wish I could see what Brock's hallucination was! Things are getting weird..... well, weird-ER!
