Well, that a little frightening, that first fellow has a new variation on the "sword of Damocles" hanging over his head. Maybe including this..

That resembles my collection but in album title only...all of these albums appear to be of the UK versions....I own multiple copies of every Beatle album but they vary in country of origin, specific type of pressing, etc. Would that be considered hoarding as well..?

    There's a difference between a hoarder and a collector.

    Interesting link, thanks.

Yikes. There's definitely a point where it's no longer about music appreciation.

This definitely makes me feel good about giving away some Beatles LPs last month. Redundancy in my collection bugs me.

Hoarders stack records horizontally, collectors vertically.

A lot of these hoarders dont even own working turntables, own 1000's of nice LPs and
will never part with one of them.

Paul sounds pretty reasonable. Brian sounds mentally ill.

"Well how do new bands get their stuff on the market? It’s far easier for a new shop to stock old James Brown albums than to risk paying money on a band who is going to be liked by one person that comes in. They’ve got to go for the occasional mum and dad coming in looking for a Hendrix LP as opposed to somebody who wants that new ****ting Toadstools LP they love."

lol, "****ting Toadstools" LP! Love it. This guy sounds like riot. I could just imagine his cranky voice reading it.
A few of those guys strike me as a bit sad, loners....and for the love of christ, as a side note....I know room is at a premium, but dont be stacking records on top of each other sky high. Your supposed to know this s***!

What about "digital hoarders"? I've read about folks with multi-terabyte hard drives full of music.

Cool article. Like the young women buying vinyl, about time. Bit worried about the ceiling falling on that fella, if it's bowed then that's dangerous.

A guy I know (who is a bit off himself) knows someone like that. He has no stereo, it broke, can't find money to fix it,. had to move in with mom, still buys records and Japan CD's in mini sleeves. Last I heard him mention the guy he was paying storage fees and was selling some items to buy others. He used to visit the guy and bring food cause his fridge would be empty.

Ah, how interesting. I've actually met Brian and been inside his house - one of the privileged 5 in the last 20 years! It did take a lot of persuading. He sold me a lovely set of Electrola LPs of the Busch quartet playing Beethoven's late quartets. I'm sure I've told the story elsewhere on this forum. Perfectly pleasant chap once I got in the door, but you couldn't even open the front door fully for the records in the hall.

Never seen one of these with a blue background before. I was about 14 and pulled out my Dad's copy of this commenting "Did king Kong have a orgasm"
I was immediately smacked up side the head.

I'm guessing that the ones that look bluish have simply been faded/damaged by sunlight over the decades...?? Don't know enough about the album to say for sure.
