I love this thread as its about enjoyment, first and foremost; the 10 albums that give most pleasure. I have to admit to owning lots of albums mentioned but which are nowhere near favourites of mine. This is mostly due to not paying enough attention to them.

So I decided to sit down and listen to all the choices here, in order that they were posted, if I own a copy, and see if I can 'get' what others like in them.

First two were Hissing of Summer Lawns and Axis.

This is impossible I won't even attempt it. Would have to be at least 100 albums I can't live without to even possibly whittle it down...

Urgh! Well first here's a list of artists that i really love, but not one album enough to get into the top ten (kinda shows the problem with this concept):
    • The Beatles
    • The Who
    • David Bowie
    • Scott Walker
    • Nico
    • Ennio Morricone
    • Nick Cave
    • Saint Etienne
    • Stereolab
    • Stina Nordenstam
Still a truckload missing, but whatever ...
Here's my album selection for a long long time:
    • Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire de Melody Nelson (1971)
    • Queen - Queen II (1974)
    • Kate Bush - Hounds of Love (1985)
    • 4AD - Lonely Is An Eyesore (1987)
    • Stay Awake: Various Interpretations of Music from Vintage Disney Films (1988)
    • His Name Is Alive - Livonia (1990)
    • Angelo Badalamenti & David Lynch - Twin Peaks : Fire Walk With Me (1992)
    • Lisa Germano - Happiness (1994)
    • The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs (1999)
    • Super Furry Animals - Rings Around The World (2001)
