  3. And with their American Composers series behind them (not to mention select elements of The Third Reich and Roll), there's even a readymade theme for the halftime show: A Salute To American Music!

He was trying to be nice.... then the reality of just how horrible the corporate-pepsi-sponsored ego-fest was crept in....

I'm going to respond a bit out of context.

I put the "It makes sense" with the previous sentence....and to me, It makes NO sense. It's NONsense.

About the 'both acts have been active for nearly 20 years"...and the 'disposable income' part.......DISPOSABLE......yeah, you pegged it, that's what I'd call it.

Of course I'm reponding to the gist...nothing personal.

I'd be a lot more interested in the halftime show if it wasn't for that grim game they play before and after.

In 2 yrs Minnesota hosts Super Bowl.

What if they invite Bob Dylan and Prince???? How awesome would that mash-up be?

To avoid pickets in front of Ford Field. People here were mightily pissed. And it was Super Bowl XL(40)

No worries, bud...I wasn't trying to be as jerky as my reply sounded! That's the trouble with words on a screen...the inflection is lost. :)

Are you serious? Most kids today don't even know who Kurt Cobain was, let alone Carlos Santana.

You might be right, only because Santana had those hits in 1999. But it's been nearly 17 years since "Smooth", so someone who is 30 years old today would have been 13 at the time.

Carlos Santana is an annoying guy in general. I hate when they put him in documentaries spewing his overblown cosmic gibberish. Give it a rest, hippie.

I agree with you that the ticket prices are ridiculous. But it is that demographic - the young adults with disposable income - that the NFL Wants to appeal to so they can charge Ford a ton of $$$ for commercial time. The league has been losing that age group, as I recall. So Beyoncé makes sense. I'm not saying that's good or bad, but it's the reality of what the NFL is today.

Oh, and I'm guessing that female viewers is another potential growth area for the League.

If it was the Detroit Lions, Beyonce wouldn't really have much reason to be afraid.
