Yeah, unfortunately it has turned into Disneyland

This recording is wonderful. I would give anything to have been at these shows for a week.

I love the Monologues, very funny.

And we also have a "Sands" Monologue on "Sinatra Treasures"

Tina, THAT monologue is my favorite of the four.

It had to. The old Vegas doesn't work in the smart-phone era. Now you have the old lady calling and texting and twitting you 24/7. Nothing is secret any more.

Tina or Paul, what is the "Sinatra Treasures" thingy? A brief search of Sinatra Wikia came up empty.

I too am a sucker for those monologues. A complete RIOT!

Sinatra at his peak! And the only place you will find "Shadow of a Smile"

    Have an original pressing.

Love this album. Frank is in good humor and good form. It has my favorite versions of "Fly Me To The Moon" and "Come Fly With Me." The first four songs are as great a way to start a show as I know.

The visual design of the album jacket always struck me as vaguely familiar. A few weeks ago I realized why.

Hard to explain, it's like a book with extras, it has removable artefacts, a CD and more it's by Charles Pignone. You'll find it on Amazon for a better explanation.

    Well put together, worth purchasing.

    David,

Accompanying the book Sinatra Treasures is a CD. "Rounding out this extraordinarily rich and entertaining volume is a CD containing early live recordings, some songs (e.g., from the Frank Sinatra show in 1945) and talk, including a 1981 WNEW interview with Arlene Francis"

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the recording of the newly released "tie clip" Jack Daniels Century performance. The date on the promotional notes regarding it list the date as 1/29/66 and that technically is true since the show began at midnight. However, it really is the second show of the night for 1/28/66.

Currently, there seems to be a bit of grumbling going back and forth between collectors as to what the correct date is.

I bought an old LP of this in Brazil. Sounds pretty good actually. Great mood!

This album has the definitive version of "I've Got You Under My Skin", IMO. The orchestra is warmed up and swinging and Frank is at a perfect balance of being not too straight, but not too loose either.

I'm not a major Sinatra fan but this is a fantastic album. Frank sounds great and the Basie band supports him wonderfully.

What a wonderful recording. Anyone want to weigh in on mono v. stereo?

    Best quote from the album:

    Fan- screams out "one more"

Sinatra- replies "one more what, I'm heading to the bar"

Opinions differ. There has been much speculation in the various "Sinatra / Sound Quality" threads.

This upcoming Sinatra at the Sands reissue will be of particular interest, coming on the heels of a similar MFSL remaster a few years ago. That one was presumably transferred from original master tapes, so comparisons will be inevitable.

Both mono and stereo were (necessarily) mixed from the same 4-track recordings done live. I haven't listened to the mono version in so many years that I can offer an opinion.

If it's of any help, see thread: —> Sinatra at the Sands...is the mono a fold down?

    (It's not.)

One of my favourite lines from the monologues has to be "I was a little kid skinny,so skinny my eyes were single file"
