One of the many records Mr. Haskell arranged was a single on Atlantic in 1962 by Jerry "Beaver" Mathers. I thought it an ironic coincidence, given that one of the Leave It to Beaver characters was named Eddie Haskell - who was played by Ken Osmond who, I presume, was of no relation to the Osmond clan with whom Jimmie would later work at the point of their early 1970's heyday.

A very good arrangement but not quite a crowning achievement. I'd rate his work on Bridge Over Troubled Water (album and single) much higher.

Ironically, I was listening to The James Gang "Bang" yesterday. Jimmie does the string arrangement on the closing track, "Mystery". He also does the string arrangement for Chicago's "If You Leave Me Now".

And he did a lot of arrangements on Grass Roots records:

Big Big loss, .... see to me this kind of arrangement skills is what I don't hear in music anymore. From Rick Nelson to Steely Dan, and on and on. They just don't make 'em like this anymore. And many folks seem to be fine with that lack it real musicality in rock and pop records. I've missed this kind of record making for years and years. Of course it starts with a good song.

Seems like I even saw his name on an early Stones album recorded in Hollywood.

Rest in peace. For one thing, he did wonderful work for the long Grass Roots string of singles.
