It came 30 years too late though. Ian's creative zenith was 1971-4 and that would have produced a wonderful acoustic album (or could have perhaps I should say)

You didn't like "The Secret Language Of Birds" (1999)?

    Good stuff-timeless.

Ah never said that! It's fine - I have lamented the passing of the opportunity for 30 years - so forgive an old man for harping on.

Secret Language of Birds is the top pick for me. The title track is especially pleasing in that the chord progression sounds like something you would hear on War Child or Minstrel in The Gallery. It's got classic Tull written all over it.

Rupi's Dance follows (fairly) close behind, but Divinities and Walk Into Light haven't been played in quite awhile in my household. I do like the track Fly By Night from the latter release, but the quality of the remaining tunes drops off from there.

The Secret Language of Birds is a great album. :)

I was teasing (and threadcapping...but providing a cheap bump as well). But to make amends, I hearby pledge to find and listen to some of IA's solo material. I have a good friend who is a true fanatic and no doubt has these CD's.

BTW, I am a huge fan of Ian's superb acoustic guitar work from the early Tull days. Does he play in that style in his solo work?

Tull sound: :) Start with "The Secret Language of Birds" & then move on to "Rupi's Dance".

"Walk Into Light" is electronic and "Divinities" is a classical album.

A 1999 album that should be in every collection. IMO This solo album will appeal to the most.

I think The Secret Language Of Birds is the best album of Anderson's entire career!

Interesting, because I think Rupi's Dance was better. Though, I think both excellent jobs by Ian. I also liked the track by track explanation. I think it lent something to the story.

I need to explore more Ian solo stuff. I only have Divinities, but
I played it hundreds of times. I can whistle all the flute parts.

I really enjoy Divinities on a Sunday morning. Underrated... just don't expect a "Tullish" album... just a very good instrumental album.

SLoB (unfortunate acronym) and Divinities for me. Rupi's Dance and Walking Into Light just a little bit less so. All good albums tho.

    SLoB by far!
    Then Divinities, Rupi's and WiL
Wouldn't it be great to have those albums reissued on vinyl? Especially SLoB.
