"Shadowland" and "Ingenue" get the thumbs up from me! Good thing about "Ingenue" is that it's one of those discs that are immensely common, decent sounding and can be picked up extremely cheaply!

Thrown on "Ingenue" for the first time in years... I fear that some of it has aged on me, tis a tad too 'lounge act'... but then this came on, I'd forgotten how much I adored this track:

Blissful over headphones, great relaxing, night time music.

    - Oh, I completely disagree! But everyone has their own opinions and tastes, just like it should be! :)

Constant Craving was the first kd Lang song I heard (via the video playing on MTV or VH-1 or whatever) and the song really grabbed me from the moment I heard it. I love the accordion (I think that's what it is?) in that song.

So I've got to the end of "Ingenue", and I would just like to say that "Constant Craving" is STILL worth the (small) price of the admission!
If you don't have this album already, get to your nearest thrift store (charity shop here in the UK) and I'm certain there'll be at least one copy waiting to be taken home!

As a vegan and a socialist I am in complete agreement with you except to say that Ted Nugent is a much better guitar player than k.d. because he eats what he kills!!

Well said. I don't care what she eats as long as she keeps recording and touring.

Thank you, obviously I didn’t detect the irony or sarcasm in your original post. Very often I have the impression that vegans and even confessing socialist vegans (!) are hard to find on the Steve Hoffman music forum. Hope you are not a satanist too ;-)

I was briefly a Satanist in the summer of 69 but the failure of Satan to send a nubile female my way despite selling my 15 year old soul on numerous occasions has always rankled with me!

Three pages and no mention of WATERSHED?

I love that one nearly as much as INGENUE.

This reminds that I don't have Watershed, or her last album for that matter.
    I need to rectify that.

Thanks so much to everyone for their recommendations and other input!
I got in Ingenue, Shadowland, Drag, and Hymns to add to my Cowgirls and Torch.
I love them all and could listen to that voice forever but as I stated I like the more laid
back stuff and for me Ingenue is Sal's Grammy winner. LOL. The icing on the cake is
the production by Greg Penny, Ben Mink, and k d is incredable. Sound quality is about
as good as it gets in a commercial recording. Smooth, clean, and detailed, all the usually
audiophile praises apply here. What a perfect base this would make for a flat transfer to
24/96 or 192 hi rez. Hint hint.
    Thanks again everyone

Dang, I almost feel bad. I was looking around ebay this morning when I saw a copy of All You Can Eat at auction with a starting bid of 2.50 and FREE shipping. I won. Hope it don't cost the guy more to ship it than I paid.

That's the beauty of her catalogue from a used music perspective. It could always be found pretty cheap. I found most of my CDs in pawn shops 5-10 years ago for $1.00-$3.00 each. At that price, all of her stuff is worth gathering.

Oh yeah! At those prices it's a steal.

People assume that any CD that sold well and has then flooded used CD stores with multiple copies must be bad which is absolutely not true as is the case here. :)

That's a ridiculous conclusion? It sold well BECAUSE it was so good. LOL
Only one I haven't seen reasonably cheap is Recollection, everyones looking for $15 and up. I know it's a 2 CD set but I usually don't buy compilations, I already have most of the songs in this one and it's been my experience that the mastering-sound quality is not up to the standards of a original studio album. For greatest hits, I'll get a live performance release.

I have the Dave Edmunds-produced album and Ingenue which are great as well as Absolute Torch and Twang but I recently bought this 2-CD comp which I like very much: K.D. Lang - Recollection 2 CD Set - Amazon.com Music ». You may have some duplications but you get a lot of good stuff and 2 versions of "Halleluiah".
Edit: I saw k.d. back in the early days when she was doing her cowgirl shtick. It was a free concert in a fairly small outdoor venue on Canada Day. She knocked out pretty well everyone in the theatre.

How does this one sound? I'm thinking of picking this one up as I don't have any of her music in my collection.
