Great choice! I was lucky enough to see him perform live twice while he was on tour with The Cookers; both performances were absolutely outstanding. Billy remains one of my all time favorite musicians.
I saw Charles Lloyd perform this live in San Francisco. The lyra and cimbalom added some really interesting texture and atmosphere to the music.
Got some new speakers this week (Q Acoustics 3050s). So I'm enjoying playing through some of my faves. This Trane disk blew me away. It's an awesome record in any case, but the sound now made me fall in love with this music again.

Gary Peacock - Tales Of Another (ECM) WLP, distrib. By Polydor. I heard some of Jarrett's vocalese on side two which another poster noted the other day. I'm sure it's puzzling to hear such sounds of one isn't expecting it.

Rashied Ali Quintet Rashied Ali, drums; James Blood Ulmer, guitar; Bob Ralston, tenor sax; Earl Cross, trumpet; John Dana, bass.
I'll have to look for that one. The cover reminds me of the Columbia SAX LPs of the 1960s. I've also listened to Akhenaten which I like very much.

William Parker Quartet: Sound Unity William Parker: Bass Lewis Barnes: Trumpet Rob Brown: Alto Sax Hamid Drake: Drums Recorded live on tour in Montreal and Vancouver. For those longing for some modern-day Ornette Classic Quartet (and who isn't) may I humbly suggest checking out this fine Quartet:
So that's who that is? I could not read the lettering (artist's name) on the first post but recognize "Invocations" as it's on my wish list. Really liked what I heard from that album, will have to check out the others.
Thanks. I am aware of that release but have not pulled the trigger. Fairly pricey but certainly a labor of love by all involved.
Awesome... I love when an equipment upgrade gives you that feeling. I hadn't heard of Q Acoustics but just checked them out... Really nice looking speakers.
