I forgot Bernard Sumner, he may not be the most technically gifted guitarist but he's got a real unique ear for melodies.

    Howdy, first post here!

He two players that first made me want to play were Ace Frehley, and much later Stone Gossard. Having been playing for 24 years I have picked up on others. Rick Nielsen, Peter Frampton, Joe Perry, SRV, Lindsey Buckingham to name a few. All make me feel like a hamfisted oaf some of the time.

I'm surprised Duane isn't on your list seeing he is your avatar picture.

Good call. Doesn't hide behind a wall of distortion and his playing is tighter than Courtney Hole's facelift.

Hendrix is the best, and he always will be. David Hidalgo of Los Lobos is great and my favorite living guitarist. Listen to "Politician" on Just Another Band from East L.A.: A Collection. Hidalgo out claptons Clapton. On "Too Small Heart" from the most recent Gates of Gold, I think Hidalgo (rover?) moves over to let Jimi take over.

I first started to listen to music, as opposed to hearing it, at the time when the British blues boom was in full flow, and then when it started to become more 'progressive,' so Peter Green, Stan Webb and Kim Simmonds have always been my favourites. From more recently, the late Huw Lloyd-Langton was the tops.
