Does anyone have a citation or know for sure if the 1989 show was analog multi-track tape? I suppose it could possibly be multi-track DAT I guess?

It seems from the liner notes Plangent was not used on the 1989 show (Plangent was not used on the Spring ’90 TOO box which was analog multi-track so perhaps that could be a precedence).

This is a little off topic but also might help solve this… I have seen website references to Plangent being used on the Formerly Warlocks box, also analog multi-track from ’89, (I don’t own the box); but then I think Jamie cited on another thread they did not Plangent that one.

News Flash: August 1, 2099.It was reported earlier today that a court appointed executor of the estate of an eccentric reclusive trillionaire has discovered a large quantity of sealed box sets entitled "30 Trips Around the Sun" which were originally manufactured and issued in 2015 and which commemorated the 50 year anniversary of the founding of the legendary American rock ensemble, Grateful Dead. The value of this discovery is said to be in the billions as the last known surviving box set is housed in an hermetically sealed room within The Library of Congress. The technology for playback of the physical media has also been preserved by the Smithsonian Institute so that the richness of the musical treasure may be accessed and translated into the current cerebral insistence avatar protocol form of intelligence broadcast. There have been several inquiries made by the Federation of United Territories for the rights to preserve and keep a box set in their regional archive collections.

This is sort of a related story to the box set. I'm friends with Elliot Easton of "The Cars" on Facebook and yesterday he posted a photo with Conan O'Brien with the joke about the Grateful Dead are putting out an 80 CD box set but no word on what song it will be. I posted two photos of my box set and he replied the following:

Do they have Stonybrook College, Halloween 1970? That was my favorite show ever. They even played "Viola Lee Blues"! The New Riders opened with Jerry on pedal steel. Pigpen, everybody was at the top of their game. I once asked Jerry if that show was as good as I remembered it. He said, without hesitation, We still talk about it."

Someone else mentioned that they fell asleep during a Grateful Dead concert and that they were boring. Elliott replied with this:

That's too bad. I loved the Dead from '67-'71.

    Hello All,
I am beginning the arduous project of ripping my set and I wanted to know if anybody can remember off of the top of their head which concert has to interrupt set two in the middle of disc two and put the middle of the set at the end of disc 3? I would like to get that straight when I rip that particular year.

    Thanks,
    Rocky Bennett
