Perhaps with the Super Duper Deluxe, they should include a Bong.

BTW, I've been rather snarky in this thread, but that's because I love ol' Crazy Uncle Neil and buy everything he puts out, whether it's great or terrible (or sometimes great and terrible), and that entitles me pretty much to be a smartass in threads like this, I think. :agree:

Wow, yeah. that's incredibly obvious, isn't it? :)

That's what I get for cutting and pasting quickly and trusting that Google can tell Nelsons apart. My bad.

I'm only familiar with them through live clips, but it sounds like they wear their influences on their sleeves without being derivative.

  13. I like their playing on The Monsanto Years better than their other stuff, but their stuff is good. It's more like stoner/surfer rock I think.

  14. That's one of the problems. He won't let others handle the classic release/Archives program. He should just turn the whole thing over to Joel Bernstein and we would have the lot within 5 years.

Completely agree. believe it or not, there are people who enjoy Neil's albums more than hearing something from the 70s, re-hashed.

this is great news, I was hoping for something from the tour to be released. Funny seeing all the complainers whining about it. People just can't get out of the past.

You could argue whatever "new" stuff he does now is also the 70s rehashed, without the quality control. It's not like he's developed in any significant way.

What 70s record sounds like Le Noise? A Letter Home? Storytone?

With respect, I think you're stretching here to make your point that you like his 70s stuff better.

A lot of Sturm und drang as always, that's expected and that's fine ... I don't take a back seat to anyone for digging what Neil does, but still some Neil I play more than others ... for those with an open mind, there are some short bits available to preview at the Pono site for this one, didn't hear any critters but I didn't play them all, we'll see ... I saw the show in Vermont & it was awesome ... btw the pre-orders at Neil's site include PONO downloads upon release date, kinda like the last one did (and 'Big Box' still sounds GREAT on the Pono, imho)

Too bad he hasn't figured out how to blend in new releases with vault releases in the manner of Springsteen and Dylan. I suspect Bowie was headed down this road as well before he took sick.

Just listened to the previews on Ponos website. Heard animal noises on 4 of the tracks I think. They didn't seem distracting at all actually. If anything all the overdubbed vocals sound more out of place.

I am 100% in for this though. The performances sound excellent
