My age and my interest in thrash metal are a fine example of the definition of Inversely Proportional. That being said, on the rare occasion that I do listen to thrash metal, more often than not it's Megadeth. My favorite is Youthanasia.

Agree that the Sepultura sound started to change here. Chaos AD is the last Sepultura album I enjoyed. I have fond memories of seeing this tour and meeting the band afterward.

Also got to see Fight. They opened for Anthrax in a small club. I remember thinking Anthrax should be opening for Priest in an arena....not Fight opening for Anthrax in a club. Still, it was awesome seeing Halford up close.

Halford opening for Anthrax is just weird anyway you look at it.

  8. Slayer's first 5 can do no wrong IMO.
Not sure Propaghandhi's post 2001 releases count (Thrash punk, not Thrash metal) but if they do, then everything they've done since Todd the Rod joined.

My first Testament show was during the Low tour. Was really bummed that Alex was no longer in the band but also excited to see James Murphy. This was also the first time I stage-dived. Ran up to Chuck Billy during "Over the Wall"...then dived into the crowd.

Forbidden opened. Got to sing "Chalice of Blood" into Russ Anderson's microphone.

Man....this thread is bringing back lots of memories.

    Different strokes

While not my favorite by them I still think it's great save for a filler song or two. I also love the way Lombardo's drums sound on it.

I dig pretty much everything from the following bands, but here's some that I enjoy just a smidge more than the rest....

    Master of Puppets- Metallica
    State of Euphoria- Anthrax
Peace Sells... But, Who's Buying?- Megadeth
    Lights... Camera... Revolution!- Suicidal Tendencies
    Horrorscope- Overkill
    The New Order- Testament
    Seasons in the Abyss- Slayer

It sounds like they were trying to hold back on the aggression and use cleaner vocals and it just feels really awkward to me.

Everything Metallica did in the 80's
    Sepultura - Beneath the remains
    Kreator - Extreme Aggression
    Nuclear Assault - Survive
Megadeth - Peace sells & Rust in peace

Do Pantera count as thrash? If so......
Cowboys. Vulgar display & Far beyond driven

I lost interest in new metal after Far beyond driven.

I never considered Pantera to be a thrash band, not even close. YMMV.
