    Via bandcamp...

"Until finding it yesterday, I thought I'd forever lost this master recording.

This is my first studio album. I recorded it during my senior year of college.

I saved every dollar I had to record this and had only enough left over to press 100 physical copies (which mainly got sent out as "demos").

Very few people have heard this because I had no way to distribute it back then.

2 of the compositions on this album, "Hidden Agenda" and "Where Did You Come From?" won ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Awards.

DID YOU KNOW?: The drummer went on to play with Kanye West and Lady Gaga, the bass player with Mariah Carey, and the sax player with John Mayer. Also...some of the music on here is in the odd-meter of 13/4! "

Bob Reynolds - tenor and soprano saxophones, Milan Milanovic - piano, Mark Kelley - bass, Charles Haynes - drums

Yes, of course. Look at the personnel! Can't go wrong with this. Thanks for the reminder, Soulpope.

Jadis, si je me souviens bien, ma vie était un festin où s'ouvraient tous les coeurs, où tous les vins coulaient.

I know what you mean, Voltaire.
The label started with Charlie Parker, or he was their biggest hit at the time (mid-fifties, correct?). I could be absolutely wrong, here.

In other news, I very happily (because they are great) own on CD the following comps: A Night Out with Verve and A Jazz Romance: A Night In with Verve.

Both certainly got me "into" jazz again, after a decade or so.

T.J. Kirk - If Four Was One... Charlie Hunter, John Schott, Will Bernard (gtr) Scott Amendola (d). The idea of three guitarists and a drummer playing a mashup of James Brown, Thelonious Monk and Rahsaan Roland Kirk seems pretty nutty. But for the most part the boys pull it off. "Meeting at Termini's Corner/I Got a Bag of My Own/Brilliant Corners" is most successful, but they're all interesting and entertaining.

Today was UNESCO International Jazz Day. While wondering the alleys of Venice, we came accross an 11 piece band plying Dixieland and swing. After a while, the bass player switched to banjo and one of the trombone players switched to sousaphone and the marched through the allies leading us to another jazz band. It was a lot of fun.

(LP Enja Records enja-3019) - the lines-up says it it all .... great live set recorded at Sweet Basil in August 1977 which captures Chico Freeman at the height of his powers ....

Bought my first Buddy Rich album today (mainly on the strength of having seen "Norwegian Wood" on an old BBC clip)
