Really? I think he sounds terrible here, and honestly, who wants to hear this song going on for forty minutes?

Self-indulgence from a guy who can't play guitar well!

 

Seriously... 5 mins of tuning and 35 minutes of lazy jamming. Not enough weed in the world to make it through the whole thing.

 

Wouldn't mind being there live.

 

Neil Young opens the show with a 31 minute long song, while Paul McCartney is afraid to even trot out the vast majority of his solo top 10 hits because he fears a mass exodus to the beer line. A perfect double bill!

 

Same here. I like the song, but playing it for 40 minutes?

When he played Jazz Fest over the weekend, he insisted that the lights be dimmed - that is, suddenly insisting while onstage at the beginning of the show (not worked out beforehand!).


Kinda ridiculous, especially with the weather that was happening...

 

I respect it but I don't mind that I missed it. (And isn't it really a 25-minute Down By the River following the non-connected jam/tuneup at the start?)

 

It's possible for this to be both a completely fearless, badass move and something I don't care to sit through or listen to.

 

Might be a little too much of a good thing.

 

A tiny bit off topic, but honestly it's times like these when I thank the Good Old Grateful Dead for teaching me patience when appreciating music. I certainly didn't have it the first time I saw them, and I would have been turned off by a 30 minute Neil Young performance back then. Listening to it today just makes me want to put on "Driftin' Back".

I sat through Greendale for longer than that. I would've taken this.........

Greendale was awesome, some of those Sun Green/Be the Rain jams went really far out!
