Someone who attracts 1 or 2,000 to shows. How is that relevant?

Maybe he can sit in on the "second stage" with Crosby, Stills & Nash...

Is this the set lineup? There won't be any openers?

Don't laugh....he's bringing back the Hammond and Leslie speakers and is playing the Attila album front to back! :hide:

They should find a way to shoehorn some of the other old warhorses into this thing by having them make guest appearances with the main acts. Think of it. Since this is that "round-up" why not have Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood guest with The Stones on a few numbers. Or Jimmy Page play with The Who ( on "I Can't Explain?") Or Jeff Beck with either one. Make some room for Elton John or Rod Stewart too.

How about David Gilmour joining his good friend Paul McCartney?
It would be worth it just to watch Roger's head explode....

Whoever pointed out that nasty comment to moderators about Prince and David Bowie, thank you, I'm glad it was taken off, and it's way too early to read poor 'I hope people give me a 'like'' jokes about the deaths of Prince and David Bowie. It was taken off in 2 minutes so thank you, and while others are doing their lame age jokes, at least they aren't terribly offensive.

I posted it, and on reflection, I took it down precisely because I anticipated a response such as yours. Glad I deleted it before your response was posted.

It was meant to be funny in a bittersweet way, as in " I wish these two were still around to take part." I guess not.

Let me know when the official mourning period ends...

Any chance they can get them to do this again on the East Coast somewhere? Like Woodstock IV maybe? (Three Days of Selfies, Violence, and Corporate Greed) This seems like a show I really should attend, but I don't get into airplanes except at the aeronautical museum.

You raise a good point. These shows will indeed set a record for 'Selfies."

I imagine the details have already been worked out for a DVD, and if they haven't ,I'm blaming Neil Young...

At this point, it makes you wonder if all these aging artists will be "available" that far into the future.

Neil set will consist of shots of the band and the audience on the DVD. If he sees anyone pointing a camera at him he'll throw his pump organ down and storm off.

Good luck with that. Jimmy Page did not what to open for The Who when he was with The Black Crowe in 2000. So they headlined on alternate nights.

Friday and Saturday lineups are solid and I would attend. Stones and McCartney just alone would be worth it. The Polo grounds is pure heaven as a place to see a show.

Sunday lineup I would skip. The Who wore out their welcome a long time ago for me. And Waters solo is just ick. Floyd reunion would be a VERY different story.

They should really add an act or two per day. This ain't no festival otherwise. Such as....

    Zeppelin of course
    Springsteen
    Fleetwood Mac
    Genesis with all five members
    Simon and Garfunkel
    TALKING HEADS
    REM
XTC (I realize 90% of the people would not know them, but put 'em on at 3pm or something.)

Not exactly music for the masses. Any connection to Rock & Roll grows tenuous.
By the way technically you will be seeing 1/2 of The Who ...

    Reserved floor – $699, $999, $1,599
    Reserved grandstand – $999, $1599
    Standing pit – $1,599

You can get a three day pass for around $400 if you are on a budget and don't need to be close to the stage ...

Funny that the promoters put together a lineup like this and everyone rushes to change or add to it. It's not impressive enough as it is?

I would really want to be in standing pit, but not for 3 days and not for that price. They should have taken the U2 / Springsteen approach where the up front GA seats are cheapest and go to the people willing to stand in line and/or fan club members.

For those on a tighter budget:
I'll be playing the best LPs by these performers on the stereo in my apartment for 3 straight nights. Admission will be $25 per night, with pretzels, chips, and popcorn included. Bring your own alcohol though, and bring some for me too. The 3-Night special pass is $65 and includes first dips on the bathroom, no matter who is waiting in line.

    Friday's LPs:
    Opening Act: Bob Dylan
    Blood On The Tracks
    Love And Theft
    Blonde On Blonde

    Closing Act: Rolling Stones
    Exile On Main Street
    Beggar's Banquet
    Get Your Ya-Yas Out

    Saturday's LPs:
    Opening Act: Neil Young
    Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
    Rust Never Sleeps
    Ragged Glory

    Closing Act: Paul McCartney
    Ram
    Back To The Egg
    Band On The Run

    Sunday's LPs:
    Opening Act: The Who
    The Who Sell Out
    Who's Next
    Empty Glass

    Closing Act: Roger Waters
    Meddle
    Dark Side Of The Moon
    Pros And Cons Of Hitchhiking

    Come one; Come all!!!

    ;)
