Awesome news, and thank you so much to those in the know that tried to keep us as updated as possible. Hope that didn't get anybody in trouble. Looks as though a lot of care was taken to be sure this was just right, which accounts for it seeming to be finished a couple times already.

  8. I'm sure a long-overdue "Leaves of Green" single edit will be one of them. Superb song.

Where are they now? - Yes »

Speculation is that this is the 28 minute version mentioned by Howe in this interview:

^^^5-disc CD/DVD/BR? Why would they need to include a DVD? Surely, a BR would have ample storage space for everything.

It's going to be either/or, I think. 4 CDs + 1 BR or 4 CDs + 1 DVD. Possibly 3+2, but definitely not DVD and BR in the same package.

I'm still not sure why they would need four CDs here, unless they have a helluva lot more bonus material than I was expecting. Oh well, it's Tales, so I guess it's go big or go home!

I've been playing discs from the Philips Classic Stereo Years box that are as long as 86 minutes .. Maybe we'll get something like that

Lsat time I have heard about it, it wasn't going to be a 5-disc boxset, but rather the classic 1-2 CDs + 1 DVD-A or 1 BR. Maybe the plans have changed.

I can't imagine a 4-CD+BR edition of Tales coming. That would mean a lot of extras! Furthermore, if they didn't do that kind of re-release with an universally praised album like Close to the Edge, why would they do it with a often criticized title like this one?

If they aim to preserve the original format, the album itself is two CDs. If they have studio run-throughs of all four tracks, that's going to require more than one CD. We know for sure there are work-in-progress versions of sides 1, 2 and 3. It's not much of a stretch to imagine an early "Ritual" being included. Maybe even a live version from the Moraz era. And who knows what else has been unearthed from Steve's boxes of tapes?

I know I haven't a prayer of this actually coming true, but part of me is secretly hoping they've somehow stumbled upon a complete, multitracked Tales show and have somehow managed to keep it secret until two weeks from now ...
