  1. I can't believe no mention yet of Frank Zappa!

    Whether it's his trademark idiosyncratic inventions, or any artistic, technical or scientific terms (of which he was very fond of), he always made a point of enunciating everything so clearly...

    The list is endless from the 50's-60's era of the great vocalists mentioned above. Their delivery always seemed effortless and so controlled. Not so much anymore. Current singers tend to put much more emphasis on vocal theatrics than on actual singing ability.

    Especially galling when you know she can, and did, sing properly - I'm thinking of her Zero 7 days. Although, to be honest, I quite liked Chandelier.
