With the October a Mega Concert being officially announced, I think it might be fun to think of the music they could make together on stage based on their vast catalogues.

Imagine the possibilities! I started a few below.
Please list any that come to mind - no matter how silly, strange or perfectly logical or enlightened they may seem.

If they do not have cross-pollination of the musicians playing together - it's an artistic crime!

Will the 4 other bands pop up on the two bands that are playing one night and jam-collaborate?

Will we see A Day In the Life with Paul and Neil again?

Will we see and hear Only Love Can Break Your Heart from those two?

How about Dylan Backed by the Stones on Like A Rolling Stone?

Will,we hear Dylan and Macca duet on a fused Blowing In the Wind/Blackbird

Will we hear Bob with the remaining Who, on a a fire- breathing Won't Get Fooled Again?

Will you hear the Stones back McCartney on High High High?

Will Macca and band back Mick on a fusion of Get Back and Honkey-Tonk Women?

How about a full band roster singing We Love You /All You Need Is Love?

    Back to back Michelle/Angie?

GRAND FINALE': End it with:RainyDay Woman-Baba O'Reilly-Like A Hurricane-Brown Sugar- Oh Darling/Day Tripper. ( a very heavy Who contributed DT)

Most of 'em are just going to do their standard oldies set, which is why the fuss over this thing is so mind boggling.

I'll add that the most interesting sets will inevitably be played by Dylan and Neil, who can probably be seen at your local venue for a hundred bucks total (if you want the same crappy view you'd have in the park)

Yep. It's really unlikely that any of the pipe dreams being tossed around will come to pass. Why would any of these artists bother to rehearse new material? And in the unlikely event any onstage jams did happen, they'd just be dull, lumbering messes.

I would like to see McCartney open the concert with a 40 minute version of "Kreen-Akrore".

neil's the only one who will challenge the audience (except maybe bob). the rest will just churn out the same old same old...boring greatest hits.

I've seen these acts dozens of times "back in the day". I'd rather remember them as they were.
I see this as a great way for the younger set to go to Jurassic Park before it closes for good........

(Don't hate me because I'm old and saw all the classic acts when they mattered)

Wow, you'd think from the way this thread is heading that no one here loves Classic Rock...

I guess we Just Can't Be Satisfied...

If the promoters used this as a gauge for their sales, they'd be Shakin' All Over.

    :sigh: :sigh: :sigh:

The usual suspects of Baby Boomers are usually in full thrust into their routines of school/work/business October time of year.
Will it be a mix crowd of retirees(yikes!!!) and Millenials with spare change and time?

I think the enthusiasm meter would grow on this if there is some innovation to the music and some theme or purpose to bring the passion.
(While amusing) I don't think stretched out obscurities is the answer. LOL

    Here's a couple more ideas|

The Stones and Macca medly:Eleanor Rigby/Dead Flowers

Neil, Macca medly: Sugar Mountain/Mother Natures Son

    Neil/Dylan: Some Girls/Idiot Wind

Who/Neil:The Campaigner/Rockin In the Free World/Won't Get Fooled Again

Dylan/Macca: Lay, Lady Lay/Why Don't We Do It In the Road (extended version)

Stones/Neil: Stupid Girl, Stupid Girl (yes, they are different songs by each artist)

It would be awesome if they all switched up discographies

McCartney plays the Stones but caps off with 5 of his songs (focuses his set list most on the 60s Stones, then seques into I wanna Be Your Man, then Hey Jude, Let it Be, Live and Let Die, Yesterday and closes it with We Love You...

Dylan plays Paul McCartney --in Dylan style any songs he wants, and caps it off with 5 of his own songs--visions of Johanna, Desolation Row, It's All Over Now, Tangled Up In Blue, and Like A Rolling Stone

Roger Waters plays the Who, I don't know how this would work, but Rog has long said if he was in another band he wished it were the Who. Who's next era..He caps his set with 5 tracks--Set the Controls..., Brain Damage/eclipse, Dogs, Give Birth to a Smile, Happiest days/another brick

Neil Young/Crazy horse plays the Floyd / Roger, opening up with a 30 minute Echoes, then a few songs like If, a the wall medley (hey you, is there anybody, comfortably numb, young-ified). He caps his set off with Sugar Mountain, Like a Hurricane, Hey hey my my, cinnamon girl, down by the River. Neil has the toughest to mesh but artistically he's most adept to try anything fail or not.

The Rolling Stones play the Beatles/Macca, and end with you can't always get what you want, let it loose, street fighting Man, sympathy for the devil, gimme shelter and then end with A Day in the life

The who play Neil young focusing on electric Neil, then Pete does Needle and the Damage done, old man and caps with Baba o Reily, pinball wizard, see me feel me, blue red grey, won't get fooled again

Then they all join together and play a superstar medley--While My Guitar Gently Weeps/paint it Black/tonight's the night/ Astronomy Domine/ imagine

I'd be so there!!! Push the envelope

Bob has proven again and again that when his never-ending tour goes through a "special" night, nothing is gonna change. Woodstock 94? He did a similar setlist to the touring he was doing in baseball parks across small towns in the USA. Has a 5 night residency at Royal Albert Park? 1 single change. Going back to Newport for the first time in 40 years? Same standard tour setlist.

So expect a lot of Sinatra covers, or if he changes things, his setlist will look like a variation on this theme :

    Things Have Changed
    She Belongs to Me
    Beyond Here Lies Nothin'
Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
    Duquesne Whistle
    Pay in Blood
    Tangled Up in Blue
    High Water (For Charley Patton)
    Spirit on the Water
    Scarlet Town
    Shelter From the Storm
    Blind Willie McTell
    Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum
    Desolation Row
    Ballad of a Thin Man

    Encore:
    Blowin' in the Wind
    Love Sick
