More rap songs than I'm even aware of, I'm sure.

"American Pie" doesn't mention The Rolling Stones in the most positive light.

Actually, they go easy on STP and save their harshest barbs for the Smashing Pumpkins.

"So You Want To Be A Rock & Roll Star" was a playful jab at the Monkees.

  6. Frank Zappa blasts the group Angel with the song "Punky's Whips": "Your albums are s±$#! It's all wrong!" lol

Could be taken as Zappa's own opinion or perhaps Terry Bozzio's, him being the main character/narrator in this sort of autobiographical song.

Or Bob Dylan. The jester sang for the King and Queen in a coat he borrowed from James Dean. That's clearly a reference to Dylan.

Zappa took some apparent jabs at Boy George in "He;s So Gay" as well. Then there's "Variations on the Carlos Santana Secret Chord Progression."

Buddy Guy has a song on Slippin' In called Don't Tell Me About the Blues. It criticizes a popular young blues guitarist not mentioned by name. I always assumed he was singing about Eric Johnson who hit it pretty big a few years before this album.

    Dale Watson: "Country My Ass."

Now, she's out there too, she's got her own secrets too
    Shh, don't tell nobody
She can't sing a lick and in a bucket, she couldn't carry her tunes
    Now wait a minute

    She's pretty as a picture
And she sure got a nice set of wits, yeah
And she misses her producer slash boyfriend who seduced her
    Er produced her a hit

    Hey, that's country, my ass
Who do they think we am?
    Force-feed us that ****
Ain't you real tired of it?
Tell 'em stick it up high
    Where the sun don't shine
    Get pissed, an' get mad
Tell 'em that's country, my ass

The Pet Shop Boys have two that I really like. How can you expect to be taken seriously? and Yesterday when I was mad. YWIWM has the wonderful line "you hated me too, but not as much as I hated you"

Thought to be Paul taking veiled digs at John & Yoko, "going underground, preaching practices" and the like. John, not being one to veil his digs, responded with "How Do You Sleep".
