Good question, New York, Vegas, LA, maybe, London. But how does that help you in Michigan. I'm gonna try getting Magdalena ver2 & Terrifying from Amazon at midnight PST. In 45 minutes, east coast will be midnight, if anybody wants to pm me, or tell us if you were able to buy them at midnight
And, for those with Apple Music accounts who don't want to buy the download, it appears that the deluxe version with bonus tracks will be available for streaming.
I prefer the original version of "Magdalena" for its sublime beauty, but version two definitely sounds more like a classic Monkees track, like a not-so-distant cousin to "The Girl That I Knew Somewhere".
Thanks! Actually, "Love To Love" is probably my favorite Davy track anyway, so I'm fine with it appearing on the new album. It will be interesting to see if my opinion of Good Times! evolves over time. Time will tell....
Wow ! Love the first 8 and really like the two Itunes bonus songs after just one listen. The rest will probably grow on me. Most new albums I'm lucky if I like four songs from it.
Just downloaded the Deluxe version from iTunes! Love "Terrifying"!!! The first thing that comes to mind is the Micky of Instant Replay era. Still a nice mix of Brian Wilson and some jangly guitar but very much conjures up the vocals from "Through the Looking Glass" 1968/69 version. And I really enjoy the alternate "Me & Magdalena" as well! This version sounds like it melted "Listen to the Band" with the slow version. The slow one is the better version but this fast one is just excellent as well. I can see why maybe "Terrifying" was left off as it seems to conjure up later Monkees maybe but it's too bad it's not on the regular album. LOVE LOVE LOVE these sessions!!! I want more lol!!!
Oh man, you have to hear the full songs! I'm really loving the new bonus tracks! Such a shame I can't hear "A Better World" yet. I'm sure it's going to be good. When you do hear the full tracks post here. Both definitely scream 1969 Monkees to me!
So much joy listening to this right now in its entirety plus the 2 bonuses. It's awesome. 2016, who woulda thought?
The official line is this was done intentionally to keep up the tradition of the missing links outperforming the approved album cuts. Now that's authenticity, man.
Good news, you can buy the bonus tracks separately on iTunes, and I just bought Terrifying and Me & Magdalena v2. They are both interesting but not instant favorites for me. I do prefer the slow version of Me & Magdalena Thank you Rhino for being considerate of those of us that don't want to buy the whole album again. Have the fye CD with bonus track on order. Now I just need to figure out how to buy the Japanese only bonus track!
