It says "hell hound" not "high hopes."

    Probably gibberish.

'I saw a lion, he was standing alone with a tadpole in a jar'.

Just throwing this out there, but gettin' one's end away might be a strong contender, as it is with much of R&R.

I think the operative word in that lyric is "high".

Some one online said "hailla" is an old Norse word for invoking spirits, so I guess it would be "the hell hound invoking ball" Sounds like a Black Mass or occult ritual of some kind. I can not rest. We need to get to the bottom of this!

"lion" is a symbolic reference to Plant, whose astrological sign is Leo, the lion.

"tadpole" is symbolic reference to sperm.

"jar" is symbolic reference to self-gratification.

  13. You don't trust the lyrics printed on the inside sleeve of the album?

Maybe not. They say it was changed on purpose because the record company found "hell hound" too offensive. Whatever the lyrics mean, that is the story.

I often find this the case with Zeppelin. How 'bout "Living Loving Maid?" My ears have never been the best, but I always hear Plant sing, Got a purple operator in a fifth sedan!!!!

@1:08 I always thought it said Helen told Hazel how it used to be.

I still sort of hear it that way even though I know it's wrong.

And I always thought in the next line Plant said something about an "aged Cadillac", which I was sure I misheard because it's such an awkward formulation; who says "aged" in place of "old" when talking about a car?
It wasn't until the dawn of the internet when I looked up the lyrics and found out I was right all along...
