I edited out a mistake of mine, why should I re-post it?

    P.S.

    Tullman,

Focal Sopra No3 is reality. I was talking to Focal guy at AXPONA 2016 and he said that Sopra 3 will be debuted any time soon (two 8" woofers; 20K; real contender). He plans to bring it to Chicago Show next year.

On the downside, people reported that they've got discount 10% at Best Buy store only after receiving 10% coupon due to purchase of something substantial.
    Sorry about that.

Just a note, the Stereophile Review of the 802 D3 is available on line.

It's an interesting read - no question the new 802 betters the old 800 Diamond in almost every respect.

I'll quote a bit of the review, because aside from the stunning, clean bass reproduction, this is what struck me the most about the new speaker:

"But much more important than the speaker's reproduction of any part of the audioband was a degree of driver-output integration that let the 802 D3 perform as a single sound source, to a degree not before achieved by B&W or, indeed, by many speaker makers."

bring back the matrix series! especially the 801!

a beefed-up 801, with better drivers, cabinet, and crossover, would be incredible...

Would be cool if they did one with a 15" bass driver! I don't think the 801 sold very well though, the appearance was just a bit too odd for most people.

well, to be fair the 801D did have a matrix cabinet...i meant the original matrix design from the 80s and 90s.

akso, remember the old 808? now how about bringing that sucker back! lol.

Heh, those were great speakers, but honestly the new diamonds are (in my opinion) a significant improvement over anything B&W has made except perahps the Nautilus. The coherency of the 802 D3's is simply wonderful, the clarity, bass extension and resolution really push these above the previous edition.

which ones? 808 or 801 matrix? don't forget the old 800 matrix too...those were 15k back in '91. i shudder to think how much they would be if made in 2016.

sounds good, i'd love to hear 'em...

The review was lacking depth IMO.

I auditioned the D3 and was not very impressed . Moving on to other brands to audition.
