Eben though I'm very happy with the 2011 CD's and the MFSL floyds, I would appreciate if the vinyl cutting files were offered on HDTracks or in a high rez physical format.
I'll hold fire on Meddle until the first three arrive. A clean Meddle would be very nice though. AHM, not so sure. The BBC Archive boot comfortably sees off the perfomances of 3/4 of this already. It's just a pity they never attmepted Summer '68 as a asession recording.
I'm certaibly interested. It's y go-to Floyd and I have an A1/B1 UK (4 quid during the great mid 80s vinyl dump). I really rate it but it is cut super hot and Roger can be heard slagging it off on the DVD of Pompeii. Fingrers crossed for a nice matte sleeve with rounded corners.
I guarantee you they're not listing those yet so they can sell through remaining stock on hand of the 2011 pressings.
A store near me had these early. I bought the new More because that's the one for which I don't have an original. The vinyl wasn't dead quiet and a little noisy at times, especially during soft passages. I 'll try cleaning it again. I wasn't especially impressed by the mastering either but hopefully someone can compare it with an original

Green is the Colour, and Cymbaline are the sonic treats on that one. I don't have my record at hand, but it has to be a mid '70s Harvest U.S. pressing.
I have two US Tower pressings (one being a promo) and Cymbaline is cut at a noticeably lower level than the other tracks. Does that seem to be the case on the later Harvest or Capitol issues? Or the UK?
Anyone have an opinion on the best sounding WYWH? I've searched and looked around, but I can't seem to find the answer.
Good question! I'll check it out soon though. I've had the opportunity to get a Tower pressing, but at the time I thought I'd be okay with the one I have. I usually get multiple pressings of a title I dig, and for some reason I didn't.
1. Original UK, low matrix. Good luck finding a clean one and due to the stiff inner they nearly all have micro-abrasions causing some surface noise. 2. German second issue (catalog starts with 1C064 instead of 1C062) sounds great. 3. US pressings are hit and miss but clean low matrix numbers are good. Also, there's a great 80s pressing with the matrix G5G on side 1 and 5AE (Barry) on side 2. This is a great sounding cut. 4. Columbia Half-Speed Mastersound with catalog 43453 (stay away from the 33453, as the EQ is wrong and it's really brittle) 5. The 2011 reissue is digitally sourced but many people like it. Myself included.
Cool. It drives me crazy every time I listen to More. Hopefully it will be fixed on the new mastering.
Thanks for the info on that guys! I have 2 very early CAN pressings and the 2011 reissue (which I also like). That German and CBS Mastersound have me intrigued. Time to send out the hound dogs for a sniff on them!
Guess I lucked out then with an A1/B3 that sounds wonderful. Has the postcard, even. Strange that for an album with such an elaborate cover design, the record itself didn't come in a more protective inner bag...
